  • Works great for cappuccino or latte in a Breville Barista Express.
Size: 2.2 lbs (Pack of 1) Style: Super Crema
First and foremost, I paid full price for Lavazza Super Crema and received nothing for this unbiased review. My machine is the Breville Barista Express with a manual tamper. I have used these beans for several weeks now. Here are my thoughts: 1. Beans - The beans are medium roast so they are not oily and thus pass through the hopper and grinder without problems. The beans reach proper pressure on the gauge essentially every cup. This is an important consideration with the Barista Express machine. In you are new to making espresso, then these beans should work well for your machine. I have used many beans over the years and in my experience, the oily beans tend to hang up, and even when an appropriate amount is dispensed, they will not reach enough pressure in my machine, despite making the grind very fine. 2. Smell - Beans were fresh, expiration date was several months away, and the aroma was pleasant. In my opinion, some other brands of coffee beans have a off-putting smell, almost a burnt rubber smell, especially with a really dark roast. These did not have that smell. 3. Taste - I really enjoyed the taste, as did my family. Unsurprisingly, Super Crema creates a good "crema" with making espresso with provides a silky mouth feel. Brown sugar tasting notes. When blending with milk, this makes for an especially good latte or cappuccino-- velvety smooth, but with just the right amount of "bite." No harsh bitter aftertaste. I typically add a sweetener to my coffee drinks, and these did not require as much sweetener to be added as some other coffee beans. Obviously, the brewing machine plays no small part in the taste, and these beans worked well with my Barista Express. 4. Caffeination - There are two different beans in Super Crema, arabica and robusta, which you can differentiate when looking at them closely. Visually it appears to be about 70-80% arabica and 20-30% robusta, which is also consistent with what I have read. If you are used to dark roast arabica, expect some moderately increased caffeination due to the medium roast (less roast leads to more caffeine) and the addition of robusta beans (also more caffeinated). There you have it. For making cappuccinos and lattes, these beans are 5/5 in my opinion. I will be buying them again. ... show more

  • Qualita Oro is a bright coffee. Blend w Perfetto to balance, for espresso style brewing.
Size: 2.2 lbs (Pack of 1) Style: Qualita Oro
If you like bright refreshing coffee, the Qualita Oro is for you, but with a caveat if you brew espresso style. I was looking for a light/medium roast coffee that might still have a little of its origin flavor.( **) When I saw the description for floral and fruity in a light/medium roast, I could not resist. When I opened the package…and pay attention here, because the nose really knows, the Qualita Oro had a full rich aroma, without harshness that bites your nose (astringency) and without smokey aroma that you can almost taste (burned). The beans were the color of milk chocolate, and had a slightly scraggly rough surface with a little bit of striations. Based on that, I think this roast is City+ (**). When I brewed this coffee espresso style, which tends to accentuate brightness in coffee, I found it had a little too much brightness. This is where blending came to the rescue! Based on the excellent description of the Oro coffee, I guessed it might need to be balanced out by a darker roasted coffee with a neutral flavor. For that I chose the Perfetto espresso coffee because it was described as having “chocolate” flavor, but not other flavors or spices. Based on the excellent description of the Perfetto, it sounded like an ideal base for blending with the Oro. I mixed the two (Qualita Oro, Perfetto) in equal parts, brewed espresso style and it was amazing. The super thirst-quenching brightness was balanced with a delicious light chocolate midtone free of any smokey flavor. It was amazing how these two coffees in a 50/50 blend complemented each other to make the blend better than the sum of its parts. This is just one experiment based on my tastes and on brewing espresso style. The ratios will be different based on the brewing method and fineness of grind. I highly recommend blending Qualita Oro + Perfetto in 1:1 ratio for espresso style brewing. ** ROAST v ORIGIN ———————- Just a final note on coffee roast style vs origin flavor. They do not refer to the same thing! Most common misconception is that French roast is a flavor. It is not! It refers to the degree of roasting. Roast styles, or degree of roasting, range from super light “Cinnamon,” to the first pyrolysis crack during roasting called “City,” to the second pyrolysis crack during roasting called “Full City,” and beyond where shiny oil is clearly on the bean surface called “Vienna,” to even darker shiny oily beans with little divots breaking off the bean surfaces and all origin flavor obliterated by the roast called “French,” and then to nearly charcoaled beans with only the roast flavor of burn called “Italian.” Origin flavors emanate from the bean itself, a result of where it is grown (latitude and longitude, terroir) and how it is processed (wet or dry). Flavors such as blueberry of a Harrar coffee, spice of a Columbian coffee, peanut of a Brazilian coffee, refreshing brightness and full body of a Guatemalan coffee, and perfect balance of a Panama coffee, should all be detectable with the right degree of roast, probably no more than Full City+. ... show more

  • Dek Whole Bean Decaf
Size: 1.1 lbs (pack of 1) Style: Dek
This makes a very flavorful cup. I'm not a coffee expert but I find this has a unique profile that is delicate, rich, and pleasing. I drink other coffee during the day that is bolder, while I like to savor this coffee in the evening. The bag does not say what countries the coffee is from. It is also a blend of arabica and robusto beans. I know arabica beans are supposed to be the king (queen) of coffee, but this coffee manages to be one of my top choices over many other 100% arabica coffees. The beans are smaller than other whole bean coffees I buy and are not oily. ... show more

  • 🙏🙏🙏 yep
Size: 2.2 lbs (Pack of 1) Style: Super Crema
This is literally the best and only bean I'll probably ever use. I tried a different one and the entire time I was drinking the coffee, I thought about this beaut. But really this is a delicious espresso bean. The shots are in my opinion better than Starbucks. And when I make a latte it's like it's coming from a coffee shop. Can't recommend this stuff enough ... show more

  • Perfect for my Coffee Maker
Size: 2.2 lbs (Pack of 1) Style: Espresso Italiano
My P****** Late Coffee Maker requires roasted coffee beans that are not oily and they recommend this kind on this brand. I only use this and one other kind from the same company, and my coffee maker has no issue with them. Love the flavor as well.

  • Delicious decaf for superautomatic espresso machine
Size: 1.1 lbs (pack of 1) Style: Dek
This decaf is pretty pricey but was worth it for me since I’m pretty picky about my coffee beans and was looking for a decaf bean that would produce a full-bodied, flavorful and not acidic espresso for lattes and americanos. This is the best decaf I’ve ever tried, and works especially well in superautomatic espresso machines. The only con is the Amazon price for the Dek is so high, but unfortunately many other sites no longer have this in stock, and it’s still less expensive and tastier than La Colombe etc. ... show more
