I've had this tool now for about 2 weeks, and so far I like it a lot. It's replacing a Launch Pros Mini that I've had for 4 and a half years, and that tool has impressed me on more than one occasion. This newer Launch tool really expands on the older platforms. The topology feature is great, and something I'm glad to see so many platforms adopting. The all system scan works quickly (speed of course varies by the age and make of the vehicle,) and I like the fact that you can label the reports as pre, post, or diagnostic health scan before saving them. I'm a professional technician, so having an easy way to save and email these reports to myself, as well as to my customers, is an incredibly valuable feature. In the interest of full disclosure, I received this tool at a discount as part of a product test group. That said, I do feel it's well worth the price for the features it has. I've paid a lot more for tools with less overall functionality, and still felt I was getting a fair deal. I haven't had the chance to fully explore all of them, but I was able to use some of the programming capabilities on a 2013 Mazda 3. This tool was able to successfully perform the PMI function necessary to program a replacement PCM, as well as the required security handshake function (parameter reset) so that the car would start and run. I attempted to use it to add an additional proximity key to a 2020 Subaru Outback, and the function was unfortunately not available for an Outback that new. There were a number of other Subaru models which were, so I expect to see it added in future updates. Outside of this, the one other hiccup I've had so far is some of the names of features aren't as intuitive as I think they could be. It took me a second to figure out which function was the all system DTC scan because it had a name I'd never encountered before. Not a big deal once you know, just something for the company to consider changing for the sake of clarity. It's certainly not the first time I've encountered this with a scan tool, both aftermarket and OEM. All in all, I'm happy with the product and will continue to test its capabilities. ... show more

I had the chance to try out the Launch x431 v+, and it's fantastic! It's user-friendly, making it easy for anyone to use, even if you're not a tech expert. But will still go as technical as needed for the more advanced users. The tool provides comprehensive diagnostics, reading and clearing error codes, offering real-time data, actuation tests and even handling advanced functions like ABS and SRS diagnostics. It's compatible with a wide range of vehicles and has a straightforward setup process. The build quality is solid, and the screen is bright and clear. I really wanted to like this unit. In fact, I was very excited to get it. It was a very large investment for me as a DIYer, but I decided to get it as I thought it would help me with troubleshooting my vehicles. Unfortunately, it did not work well at all. It was able to auto-detect the vehicle type and VIN as promised, but many of the special features failed to work. The error messages were not useful at all or nonexistent. For example, I tried programming a proximity key for a 2014 Jeep Cherokee which it said was supported. First, I tried to pull the PIN which was a listed option but got an error back (just the word error - no description). No big deal because I had the PIN. Just wanted to see if that feature would work. Next, I tried to program the key. It appeared that it was going out to the internet to do something on a server. I had a strong WiFi connection, but again, got the generic error and failure. The key was not programmed. I tried storing health reports for several vehicles, but when I tried to pull them up later, they weren't there. The list was empty. I really liked the idea of having the old reports available so that I could track the history of a vehicle or compare to past results when troubleshooting. I tried to program FOBIK keys for a 2015 RAM. Had the correct part number. Ordered two spares, both timed out on the first attempt and then continued to say "wrong key" on subsequent atttempts. Took them to a locksmith and was told that it appeared that the Launch unit attempted to write to both fobs, but because it failed, they can't be written to a second time. This was a very expensive lesson to learn. I question if this really is an authorized Launch unit just from a Chinese distributor. When you click on the renew tab, the renewal price is double what they advertised on this listing. I contacted their tech support and they told me not to go through the app and to only contact them directly for renewal. I did send all of my error codes through the unit to Launch, but have heard nothing after a little more than a week. In fairness, this may be due to the Chinese New Year. I suspect they are shut down, but this brings up another concern - if you need support for your business, can you really wait more than a week to get help? Again, I was really excited about this unit and had high hopes that it would work well. I am going to give them another 48 hours to respond to my emails and tickets submitted through the app, but short of some miracle, I suspect I will be returning this unit and looking for something better. ... show more
