This scanner is sooooo good it does exactly the same like a high end scanner, why pay 3k for a scanner when u can get this one 5 times cheaper, I already programmed ford keys with this tool and it is just amazing how fast and responsive is. Battery life is amazing and is charging all the time. if you get this tool you can make alot of profit from it quickly. super easy to carry and it doesn't take alot of space and even has a stand built in. The media could not be loaded. I've been very happy with this tool it has easily filled the role I needed. I was looking for a well rounded tool that could complete daily tasks on a wide range of vehicles and the X431 Pro Elite does this very well. I've used the service funtions for oil service reset, brake caliper reset, window calibration, brake bleeding and battery matching on multiple makes like Chevy, Porsche, Ford, Volvo, BMW, Volkswagen, and it did exactly what I wanted. I was impressed in the level of instruction it gave as well since many cars are very picky about the sequence and the directions were clear and very well laid out. The number of service functions is extensive and I have yet to have it fail at anything I've thrown at it. I think where the scan tool shines the most is just how good the software is laid out. The main screen is very easy to navigate. I was even able to make a custom list of vehicles that I normally work on so I can access them easier if I'm not going through the guided function. Basically whoever is creating the user interface at Launch needs a raise because they have polished it to make prompts easy to understand and they have made the guided functions very smooth so there's no question about what a procedure or test will do. Another area they've got nailed is the graphing function when looking at live data. I can put up to 8 data pids (parameter IDs like eng temp, rpm, O2 volts, fuel trim status) all on the screen at the same time and when I click on one it will show that one by itself but I can add or subtract other data to the graph in real time and the really good news is that it doesn't reset when I go from screen to screen so if the vehicle acts up all my information is still available. One more great feature on this tool is the ability to switch from Metric to Imperial measurements with one button at the top so that I don't have to do the conversion or leave my data stream to go change it in settings. It's basically like the designers either have worked on cars before or they're really good at listening to feedback from technicians because I don't have any complaints about this tool. Another area that the X431 gets right is hardware. The screen is just the right size any larger and it would have made tapping the controls awkward. I wasn't sure at first about if I would like not having physical buttons but the more I thought about it that is many times what broke on my other scan tools. I've been impressed with the battery life of the tool but another feature makes that almost never an issue. The fact that this particular model is corded makes it much more robust in my opinion. I don't have to worry about the battery life and I certainly don't have to constantly remember to get the Bluetooth dongle out of the vehicle I'm working on. I've lost several of those working in a fast paced shop environment. I love the fact that I can easily add more functions to this tool as well. I hooked up a USB borescope and it worked perfectly without any setup necessary. You can also add an oscilloscope and several other modules to this tool, which just makes it even more powerful for the times that a scope or specialized diagnostic tools are needed. One feature I don't have any experience with is ADAS but the X431 will even do that with the right equipment. All said, Launch makes really good tools and this one fits perfectly as my go to diagnostic tool for almost every situation. Got this Launch X431 to replace an older THINK scanner I had. Found the tablet to be generally responsive, larger than others I’ve had in the past, easier to use, and with many more features than I’m used to. I had a prior scanner where I had to pay for additional features…this tablet has many of the features and vehicles already built in. For mechanics who want to go much deeper than a regular OBD reader and get into dealer grade functionality…this appears to be it! Pros - Larger display and quicker boot time. Tiles and text were easy to read. Interface was generally easy to use - Interface is a hardwired cable now instead of a small wireless dongle (which I’ve lost before!) - Service menu goes overboard with features: brake, steering angle, throttle relearn, adaptive lightning, power balance, and high voltage battery are a few that stick out. Since I have a Prius (and want to buy another used one), the ability to read the battery is a big deal - There are updates to the different apps within, like Toyota service menu, along with clear updates on the changes and coverage by vehicle. Can enter all areas without having to subscribe or buy an add on - Vehicle coverage is wide. It supports Toyota and Maserati, both of which I own. I don’t have to subscribe to different makes and models on top of buying the scanner. Comparing prices, the included makes/models help a lot - There’s a new “remote diagnose” area—I need to test this further, but looks like I could have a friend with a similar setup connect and see what’s going on - There’s an immobilized program built in with a decent long coverage list of vehicles Opportunities - Requires an internet connection and login setup at first boot. Also when using “repair info and DTC help.” Realized this when my house lost internet for a day. - Upon opening package I noticed the code and password for sign up were in a black paper, just wished it was more clearly labeled that it’s important for first setup - If I press the back button enough times, I enter I normal android tablet menu. Not sure if that’s by design, but I am able to tap the app on screen and re enter the menu ... show more
