About two weeks ago I purchased the Launch CPR129X scanner. If you are looking for a scanner for your own use, this might be a good choice. The price varies. It gives a lot of information, and the firmware comes with a free lifetime update. The scanner also connects to Wi-Fi and allows it to download updates. It also has a "Mall", Store, that you can purchase add on functions. I purchased the add on for GM vehicles that adds more function. This was an added $34 purchase on the mall off the scanner. The add-on features are only good for one year. Reports The scanner allows you to input a business or your personal name and your email address. It will email you a nice-looking report with all the details of the scan results. You can take snapshots of any of the scanner screens that can also be sent to your email address. Live Data You can view live data of anything on the OBD2 connection. It will also live stream graft the data, allowing you to view any changes. This data can also be recorded for capturing any changes and saving them for future viewing. These recordings can also be emailed. My only complaint, the product description offers a free lifetime update service. This is for the base level amount of scan data. If you want the full scan capability, you need to purchase additional firmware from their mall. They are only good for a year and after a year, you need to purchase again. It is still cheaper than other scanners and gives the same results as scanners costing way more. All in all I’m happy with this unit. It feels comfortable to use and seems to be made well.     • My first impressions
Physically, I like it. Large bright touch screen. I got the CRP129X version with the buttons off to the side as well. I also like the rubber shell around the scan tool. I always do my best not to drop or damage my tools, especially electronics, but mistakes happen and the outer rubber shell will help to protect it from shock and vibration. Next, the tool is very easy to use right out of the box. First thing I did after powering it up and connecting to my wifi, was download any updates and firmware upgrades (make sure you have working wifi for any updates/upgrades and some features like e-mailing the health report require it). That process was quick and any issues I had were entirely because of my internet connection, not any fault of the scan tool. I was able to access the ECM, PCM/TCM, SAS and ABS on 2 vehicles, a Nissan Altima and Ford Mustang. I was able to read codes, access plenty of live data, including generic OBD2 data. Being able to see the I/M Readiness monitors status is very helpful. I did NOT try any of the reset functions however, but that will come later. Overall, there are a lot of data PID's and being able to access not only engine DTC's, but transmission, airbags and ABS is why I bought this tool. Having said that, I do have one complaint. On both vehicles, the tool could NOT initially make use of the auto VIN feature. I had to manually enter the VIN for both vehicles. I'm not exactly sure why or what the issue is, but I will investigate and update this review with my findings. It does NOT make the tool unusable by any means, but it is frustrating/annoying to manually enter the VIN every time on every vehicle. So I hope it was just me using a new tool or just a glitch of some kind. I will use it on more vehicles and report back. Update 4/27/19; Quick update, solved the auto VIN detection problem... The problem is with the operator being stupid and not the tool. If you own one of these tools and you're having trouble with the auto VIN, make sure you have the ignition turned to the ON position (engine NOT running). Anyway, so far so good. No complaints. I will continue to use it and test it, and report any issues if I find any. ... show more

    • Great Multi purpose code scanner!
The product arrived quickly, and first impressions were excellent. The scanner itself feels like a high quality piece and not flimsy or cheap at all. I was pleasantly surprised it came fully charged, and turned on quickly without being plugged in. Already a major upgrade from my other scanner. I quickly set up the scanner to get on my WIFI, registered my product, and installed all the updates. At this point after all the updates (And my slow internet connection) it had been on for about 45 minutes to an hour...The battery only dropped down to 98%, Great! The unit has a touch screen that feels excellent. Feels like an iPhone and the menu's have the same feel to them. You can use either the touch screen or the buttons on the right for any task. Kind of handy, kind of un-necessary but hey its there and it works. My first task was reading an airbag code on a 2012 Silverado. I plugged the truck in, it read the VIN quickly. After answering a few questions like "Manual Transfer case yes/no" It ran a full vehicle health report. In addition to the airbag code it provided a description of the code and what the error means. B0083 front left impact sensor 1; 0F Sensor Reading Erratic. No need to google what the numbers mean anymore. (Another great feature my old scanner did not have) It also pulled up codes from the past that were fixed....Like an unplugged wheel speed sensor from when i did the brakes a week ago and forgot to plug it in immediately. I was able to clear these from the history, but need to fix the airbag sensor before that one will disappear. The next task was to reset the oil service light on a 2011 Audi A4. It not only did this, but it also reset the Service Interval as well! This was something I thought only an Audi specific tool could do. It not only reset it, but allowed me to extend the service alert to not bug me for another 3 years! (Previously we had to go to Audi 45 minutes away from our house once a year to get the alert reset). This feature was not advertised, but it is possible with this unit.... Color me impressed! So far I am very impressed with the unit and am very happy with my purchase. Well worth the investment if you do as much of your own work on your vehicles as you can. I hate having to take vehicles somewhere for something simple, like brakes, because there is no easy way to retract the electronic E-Brake. ... show more
