Description

Fire Red Neocaridina Shrimp are popular among the shrimp hobby and are great for beginners! They are higher grade versions of red cherry shrimp. 10 shrimps per gallon is usually the recommended rule. Fire red are hardy, non-aggressive and spend most of their time eating algae and biofilm off plants, glass, and substrate, making them an awesome clean up crew for your tank. Simply dechlorinate clean tap water or RO water, cycle your tank with some plants and your new shrimp colony has the opportunity to thrive. Please do keep in mind to avoid using tap water that is heavy in metals or chemicals that are not healthy for your shrimp. Please make sure that all foods or aquarium fertilizers are shrimp-safe when dosing your tanks. Proper Tank Parameters for a successful Neocaridina colony: Temperature: 65-80F pH 6.5-8 TDS 170-250 ppm GH 5.5-8 Quality Shrimp Breeding: We will provide you with a healthy ratio of females to male shrimp so you can have your own colony that can take off! Try to keep different colors of neocaridina separate to maintain offspring color and purity. Inbreeding different species types can result in a duller “brown” colored offspring. Each of our shrimp are high grade shrimps with genetic lineages tracing from award winning breeders in Taiwan. Shrimp Food: There are many shrimp foods out on the market. They do well with dry foods such as fish flakes(without metals) or fresh vegetables such as boiled spinach. Please boil any fresh vegetables and let air-cool before placing in tank for sterilization purposes. Decorate your tank: Neocaridina shrimp LOVE grazing on different types of plants such as java moss, taiwan moss, fissidens, bucephalandra, java fern. Baby shrimps also like grazing on floating plants such as dwarf water lettuce, Salvinia minima, and Frogbit.

  • Fantastic Addition to My Aquarium!
The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased fire shrimp, and I couldn't be happier with my decision! These vibrant little creatures have added a stunning splash of color to my tank, and their active behavior has been a joy to watch. From the moment they arrived, I was impressed with the careful packaging and the health of the shrimp. They acclimated quickly to my aquarium and started exploring their new environment immediately. Their bright red bodies are absolutely mesmerizing, and they seem to be getting along well with my other tank inhabitants. What I love most is their active cleaning behavior. They are constantly scurrying around, picking at rocks and plants, keeping my tank spotless. It's fascinating to watch them interact with each other and with the other fish. Overall, I highly recommend these fire shrimp to any aquarium enthusiast. They are hardy, beautiful, and provide excellent cleaning services. Definitely worth the investment! ... show more

  • 1 month later and I have a well established shrimp colony
TL;DR; Lost one in shipping and a couple died early on. Others are very health and active. They have been very busy as well. I have dozens of baby shrimp already. I ordered these little guys just under 1 month ago. Even though they were well packaged and had a heat pack, one of them did die during shipping. I didn't complain about that, that's part of the risk we take shipping living things. Two more died within about a week. Shrimp get stressed easily and this can cause them to molt to early, which can easily cause them to die. My 17 surviving shrimp however, are very healthy and active. They have great color. They have also produced more baby shrimp than I know what to do with. Which is not a bad thing. I bought these to start a shrimp colony and breed shrimp. The other day, I counted 44 baby shrimp in about 10-15 seconds. Who knows how many are still hiding in their big clump of java moss or under the driftwood that's in their tank. I've seen a lot of negative feedback on here and I expect that those are from people who didn't properly acclimate the shrimp to their new environment. You have to let them slowly adjust to the temperature of the new tank at a minimum, but it would be best to drip acclimate them. Again, shrimp are very sensitive to changes in their environment. Another reason for poor results could be from a tank that is not properly set up and cycled. A new aquarium should be cycled without any fish for at least a couple weeks. It's best to use some filter material or other porous material from a well established tank or use something like safestart or quick start. This will make sure the tank has the bacteria that it needs to regulate water parameters. If this isn't done your tank is more likely to have major problems due to bad water conditions and possibly kill everything in the tank. Anyways, from my experience the shrimp aren't to blame. They are healthy and fun to watch. Would buy again. ... show more

  • Excellent quality, arrived earlier than expected
I loved how quickly I received my order. My shrimp were not distressed, all arrived alive including the extra couple that were sent “just in case of a DOA”. They colored up beautifully as soon as I added them to my tank. Nice strong color indicative of good breeding.

  • Amazing Shrimp, Even Better Customer Service!
The media could not be loaded. This was my first time shipping shrimp but I am pleased I did so. I retrieved my package with 15 minutes of delivery. My first bag had popped open during transit, causing the small shipping box to be damp to the touch. 10 shrimp ended up outside of the bag. 12 remained inside the small amount of water that was left inside the ruptured bag. I contacted SF Aquatics by email within the hour and was paired with Luan who took my case seriously, made me feel at ease, and sent out an immediate replacement for the Live Arrival Guarantee. My second package arrived EVEN FASTER than the first and 20 of 22 shrimp were alive! The bag was intact, full of water and air which gave the shrimp plenty of room to swim around. I even noticed some tiny baby shrimp clinging to the green netting in the bag. If you're skeptical, don't be. I highly recommend SF Aquatics. The shrimp are a beautiful and deep red, and if some are DOA, rest assured that your satisfaction is their top priority. They will right any wrongs (shipping is out of their control). I cannot recommend Luan with SF Aquatics enough! Thank you so much! ... show more

  • 2 months later - Shrimpies are proliferating!
The media could not be loaded. I want to start this review off by saying that originally, there was an issue with my order but customer service was quick and responsive in helping me sort it out! I originally ordered 20 shrimps, but was only given 16. This was strange to me because they described shipping out more shrimps than you order to offset any deaths during shipment. I let them know about that issue right away, and they quickly refunded me 50% of the charge, which made it so that I basically paid for 10 shrimps + the 6 extra to account for accidental deaths. Very happy in that conclusion (: Shipping to Hawaii was quick (I think a little under 2 weeks?), and the shrimps came in a box that was fully padded with insulating material, and triple bagged. They also had green mesh inside to help them from completely being messed around inside during the process of shipping overseas. There were 3 deaths, RIP shrimpies :( , but the rest were good! I am NO fish tank and care pro, but I made a makeshift drip acclimation setup and had it run for about an hour while I went out to eat. After that I basically dropped them into the tank. I haven’t had any other issues since though 2 more died. I also don’t have anything fancy in my tank other than substrate that was labeled for shrimp, a bubbler and a regular filter and they’ve been doing well with it. I do house root plants (ie. Pothos) inside the filter tank though as I’ve heard that helps break down the nitrates in the water, and I add beneficial bacteria every now and then as recommended. It’s now been almost 2 months and the shrimps are proliferating! I know this because they had 2 batches of babies already, so I’m very happy with the purchase. ... show more
