    • Great gift set with some excellent coffees.
This set comes well packaged in a nice presentation box making it a great gift for a coffee lover. It comes with five sample packs of coffees from around the world and a tumbler. I'll start with the tumbler. It is also packaged in a second cardboard box to give it some extra protection. It is coated with a faux wood paint job. It has a lid with a sliding and locking drinking opening so you don't spill it when it is closed. The lock holds well and doesn't come loose. It keeps coffee warm for much longer than your average person will take to drink it. The five varieties come from Peru, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, and Columbia. They are all a medium roast and have varying flavor notes and characteristics. They are all whole bean coffees, which I like very much as it maintains freshness longer than ground coffee. My first drink was the Guatemala. It was slightly bitter and had dark chocolate and caramel notes. The roasted beans had a different more earthly aroma which faded to a "normal" ground coffee scent once ground. While this has dark chocolate and caramel notes, I didn't find it had the rich flavor of other beans with similar flavor notes. I next tried the Peru beans. I was excited by this one as I've never tried a Peru bean previously. They have a wonderful rich aroma in their roasted bean form. Ground and brewed they had little to no acidity or bitterness. They have a natural sweetness with notes of cherry, chocolate, and a strong creamy caramel note. This one is amazing and I was sad to only have enough for two mugs of coffee in the sample. It is on the verge of taking the favored place from my normal specialty favorite beans. As soon as I got a couple drinks into my first cups I set out to get more of it. Unfortunately their store here on Amazon only has the Peru beans in decaf form, except in their sampler packs. I know the decaf is going to taste different. I really hope they start selling the Peru beans in their store here as I will definitely purchase more of this delightful bean. Despite what I say about another one of the beans in this sampler, this is by far my favorite from the sampler. The next bean I chose was the Columbian. The scent of the unground beans wasn't much different from many beans, however when actually grinding them in my hand grinder, I was soon greeted with an aroma I'm quite familiar with. That aroma was that of my favorite specialty coffee which also comes from Columbia. I had to double-check to make sure I hadn't accidentally put my favorite beans in the grinder, but I indeed hadn't used the wrong beans. Brewing them up I found they had almost the same flavor profile as my favorite coffee. They have a sweet nuttiness with no bitterness. Very surprised by this. The Mexico beans were my next and they are a bit harsher with some bitterness and vanilla notes with a slight smokiness. While not bad coffee, this was my least favorite of the sampler. Which left the Brazil beans for last. This brewed up with some acidity and nuttiness with cocoa notes. It also had a slight bitterness, so truly a balanced cup of coffee as they say. I would like to try more of this, but I didn't have the overwhelming desire to get more like I did with the Peru beans. It is whole bean coffee, so if you are gifting it or getting it for yourself, you'll need a grinder or know for sure your giftee has a grinder. Nothing worse than getting a gift you are forced to spend money to use. This is a set I was delighted to get. Now to find more of that Peruvian coffee! ... show more

I'm really liking these coffees. The aroma of the beans after grinding them is incredible. There have been strong notes of bitter dark chocolate, some spiciness, deep rich flavors, etc. All of the coffee is top notch. Each packet would be ideal for about 8 cups of coffee. Loading the grounds into a 12 cup maker seems a little on the lean side, but I like my coffee strong. A couple of my favorites were the Guatemalan and Mexican. I have a love hate relationship with the mug. Sometimes the lid screws on easily and nicely. Other times ( I think when the liquid level is too high), It may take me several minutes to get the lid seated properly. Once seated, it does not leak, has the straw access and works great. I really like the woodgrain print on the outside of the mug. I do think any coffee lover would really enjoy this set as a gift. Really a no brainer. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The coffee is good but not too much wow factor. Probably because they are all medium roast and I am more like a dark roast person. However, because they are all small packed and hand roasted, the aroma of each coffee is very unique. Definitely for coffee lovers who enjoy coffee tasting. I personally love the tumbler that came with the gift set a lot ! It is leak prove, as long it is properly locked. It keeps the coffee hot for several hours and I also love that it’s very convenient to drink. Recommend it. ... show more

I was surprised by this coffee actually. I didn't expect much as this isn't a well known brand. The bags are just enough for 2ish servings in a 34oz french press i have. so its a great way to taste beans from different regions. All were pretty good. Id rate everything a 4 out of 5. I've had better coffees, for much more of course, and way worse coffees. I think most people will be satisfied with these. The travel mug included with this gift set looks very nice. the fake wood grain detail is very nice. it feels well built as well. The lid is a little hard to screw on and off and the area where you drink is impeded by these weird plastic bump outs. It does keep the coffee hot for quite some time, several hours at least but the lid is a weird issue for me. overall this is a nice gift set that i think most coffee lovers will enjoy. ... show more

This is a coffee lovers gift box. Contained is a sipper cup and five 2 oz pouches of different gourmet whole bean coffees. Persoannly I found the cup to be a little bit of a letdown. This is a whole bean coffee gift set. How about if they included a coffee grinder rather than a cup. Most people don't have a coffee grinder, everybody has a cup. Each pouch will make about two 12 cup pots of coffee. I tried the Guatemala pouch. It's definitely a big step above regular coffee that you get from the grocery store. I don't have the most refined pallete, but I got some hints of blueberry in the background. Very exciting to the taste buds. I look forward to trying the other pouches. I think the price of this gift set quite high. You are only getting a total of 10 oz of coffee. I don't place much value in the cup. I'll take off a star for that. I am 6 months into making a V60 pour over each morning. The coffee tasting is a great little idea and has been fun. I like some beans better than others and actually disliked one quite a bit. All down to personal preference, so I won’t bother you with my preferred profile. It might be nice to have a mixture of dark light and medium roasts to try in a box too. My first issue is that each bag weighs 2 ounces, but beans only weight 1.8 ounces. I use 30 grams each pour over and this makes me short .2 ounces for the second days coffee. So I don't get as close to 2 morning coffees per bag as advertised. The cup is definitely for those that travel and don’t want to spill. I dislike the plastic rails on each side, but could see how they could be useful. ... show more
