I purchased this as a second tank for my betta so that I could put another fish into the tank to clean the algae without being attacked by the Betta... However, I did not expect the tank to be as narrow as it is!! (4.5" inches!!) I had read a review where someone said it was narrow, and a tight squeeze for his hand when putting plants in place - I have provided a picture WITH A RULER so that the inside dimensions are realized for others. As it is - right now, this will work for my purposes, and I may update this after actually setting up and using the aquarium. I wanted to get an aquarium for my betta to replace an older acrylic tank that was showing some scratches. This one seemed to fit the bill although the one main deterrent was that it didn't come with a lid (more on that later). It's a beautiful tank with a nice large front surface for viewing your fish. On the other hand, it's quite narrow, and so if you're ham-fisted like I am, getting things set up right in your tank can be difficult, and cleaning it when the time comes is going to be a chore. I like the fact that this isn't a kit. No crappy filter or light to deal with (I usually replace them anyway). I can use the simple sponge filter and aquarium light I already have for this set-up. Back to the lid... I've recently lost two "friends" because they wanted to venture outside their tanks and made a jump for it (this happened at night through the narrowest of openings). Bettas can jump! Therefore a lid is a must. So I ordered a couple of other things with my tank in order to make a lid for the tank. The plastic sheets are rigid, but can easily be cut, so you can "notch" the top where your hoses, wires, and light go. The plastic latches are perfect for attaching the lid to the aquarium. Got this to house about 3 tetras that have survived together for many years. Wanted a smaller tank. I was surprised that it was as tall as a regular 10 or 20 gallon tank, just very skinny. In fact, some decorative driftwood could not fit. But, the view of the fish is nice, because of the seamless joins & easy to clean glass. (Will never get plastic tank again-uncleanable). The filter motor that came with the tank was too loud. Luckily, I had ordered a quieter filter to replace that one. ... show more

This review is for the 3 gallon tank. It has odd dimensions and is NOT suitable for any fish. Not even 1 Betta. We plan on using it for Neocaridina shrimp once it's planted and cycled. A comparable sized tank with better dimensions and 45 degree mitered seams would be $50+ so this is a viable option if you are looking for something cheaper as a terrarium or dwarf shrimp tank. It is definitely glass and not plexiglass! Narrower than I imagined but works for one goldfish. Looks really nice and clear view of contents of tank. Set it up and observed for any leaks and none noted. Easy to clean glass!

This is a very high quality tank, crystal clear glass and excellent workmanship. No defects at all. The top grate took a little bit to figure out since you have to physically cut pieces off and re-attach them on another side. The accessories that come with the tank will come in handy. I ordered this on prime day in a grey and didn't realize the depth was so shallow. It's a shrimp tank so it really didn't matter to much but a fish would struggle in here. Great tank but if I could choose different I would. In the end became a great planted shrimp tank I can almost move around easily when filled with water. ... show more
