  • Comfort for Big & Tall
Color: Mocha
I bought this chair for my brother who is 6'4", 270 lbs, and always comments that my furniture is not comfortable for "big people". He loves this chair and it is very comfortable for him. He likes several features. When he fully reclines, his feet/heels are completely supported by the foot rest and his feet don't dangle off the end or cut off circulation. He also likes the small tufted area in the foot rest near the knees so that his legs don't hyper-extend. He is so happy to have a place to relax at my house that's built for him. It's a solid recliner that can easily support his weight. The fabric is not leather, but has a slight suede texture, so it feels a bit like suede leather. The texture is nicer than what I'd imagined from the photo. It was delivered about a week earlier than Amazon had estimated it would arrive. I had it delivered into my garage because the shipping box is very heavy & large. Once it was placed in the room, putting on the back was easy, just follow the directions for the locking pins. It took two of us to put the back on properly & lock the pins, but it's solid once assembled. Prior to purchasing, I did a pretty exhaustive search on the internet for Big & Tall chairs. For the price & comfort, this chair is a great deal. ... show more

  • IT is big, but it'll trap you
Color: Mocha
I like many things about this chair. The material is soft, the cushion thick, and the comfort grand. But once you recline all the way back you are trapped unless you have some serious core strength. The recliner does not unrecline. I have to call my wife to lift up the back so I can sit up after a nap. Then I have to lean way over to grab the leg release. It is a long reach. I added an extension to the release lever so I could reach it. I am 5'11" and weigh 400 pounds. I cannot get this chair to come back to the sitting position without help. Pushing with my feet or pressing down with my butt had no effect. It is a huge chair. I like that. I do not recline it all the way unless I am sure someone will be home. I can lift the legs up and reach the handle with some effort as long as I do not push the back back. It takes a extension for me to reach the lever though. I think maybe this chair would be better for someone 7' tall. I'm keeping it because I had a hard time finding something that will hold my weight. I got it for $500 so it was a good deal for me. ... show more

  • All in all, a great recliner
Color: Chocolate Brown
We have previously owned leather Lane recliners that lasted nearly fourteen years. They held up very well over the years but it was time to replace them. It was an easy decision to replace them with the Lane brand again. It has become a brand we trust both for comfort and quality. This recliner delivered today without incident. Well, nearly. The box it delivers in is humongous and will not fit through a conventional front door. We needed to unbox it on our porch and then carry the pieces separately into the house. Assembly of the back of the chair onto the base wasn't hard- just took a bit of muscle and persistence. I was happy to see how well-made this chair is. Most of the inner mechanisms are metal and I have no problem believing this chair is capable of supporting a very large framed person. I think I read it can support up to 500 lbs. I believe it. The fabric is not leather (which I realized when ordering) but it also isn't vinyl. The fabric is a bit different than I had imagined or have ever seen on a recliner. It really will fool your eye to think it is leather - amazing. But it has a very soft feel to it, not the texture of real leather, and not the typical pleather or bonded leather either. It feels more like fabric. The tag says it is 95% Poly and 5% Nylon. My chihuahua and terrier dogs both jumped on it with excitement and neither of them left any "claw marks" that I have seen them leave on our leather in the past. I think it will wear quite well and be durable. There are really only two things that I noticed that gave me pause that I thought another buyer might want to know before buying. First is that the fabric care tag says you must only use water-free dry clean products. Hmm. I have always been able to just wipe down leather or faux leather furniture with a damp rag in the past. I don't know that a damp washcloth would hurt the fabric- But clearly the fabric care seems to frown on that. Guess time will tell. I'll need to research what "dry clean" products are available for cleaning it. I've never had to do that before. The tag says to use a professional furniture cleaning service. If I had known that before buying it, it would have given me pause And I very well might have considered a different Lane recliner made with leather or bonded leather instead. Second, and I suspect this will be the real issue to consider, the lever you use to pull up on to put your feet down is very far out of reach on the side of the chair. My husband and I are both tall and have never sat in a recliner where the lever is completely out of reach. You really have to bend over far to touch it with just your finger tips. My husband is six foot tall and it is an issue- I suspect a shorter person might find this really frustrating. I don't know how else to explain it other than to say it is REALLY far down by the floor and you really will have to strain to reach the lever when it is time to put your feet down. As for the chair's comfort- it is extremely comfortable. It is wide and the plush areas offer firm support. It handles a taller frame no problem. I have taken a nap in it and it was wonderful. Due to sleep apnea my husband sleeps upright in this chair at night, and he is thrilled with the comfort level. The lumbar support is appropriate and the leg support is as well. Wouldn't change anything in regard to the comfort. All in all, I would recommend this recliner. The price shot up on Amazon after we bought it, but I feel like we really got a good deal for what we paid. I feel confident this Lane product will hold up well and provide us with comfort for years to come. Edit to add after using a while: the lever being out of reach is REALLY frustrating. However I cannot imagine it being possible to sit in a more comfortable recliner. The lever issue just fades in importance because the comfort more than makes up for it. My husband has one of those fitness bands that lets you track your activity as well as rest. Prior to buying this recliner his 'sleep efficiency rating' when sleeping was always around 77% at night. He is now getting a 94-95% sleep efficiency rating each night- a HUGE improvement. He sleeps well and wakes up feeling rested. If you plan on using this recliner to sleep in on a regular basis, I think the odds are good that you will be very pleased. ... show more
