really solid. Heavy enough that it drives itself into the ground. Spikes come out mostly clean. I've got weak skin, so was starting to get blisters after using it for only 5 minutes. So wear gloves (I will next time). Also, even though driving it into the ground doesn't take much effort, pulling it kinda does, so you can get a pretty good workout in just 20 minutes. Biggest problem, really, is I've got a large yard, and it will take hours to do all of it. Might take me most of a week to get good coverage. It all depends how dense you want the holes to be. I've been preparing to start fixing patches in my lawn and needed a efficient method to aerate. This pole aerator is the easiest option I've used, much better than the shoe aerators, or trying to go rent a gas powered aerator for such a small portion of a yard. Simple to use, basically just scree the poles together and start plugging away! Everything feels durable so I expect this will last as long as I need it to. Finally! An aerator that works, is easy to hold and doesn't take all your strength, and kill your entire day aerating the lawn. One of the best things are, it comes completely assembled, unlike others I've ordered, then didn't even work. The weight is all in the pole, so it kind of does the work for you. The spikes are sharp enough, it goes through the hardest of clay soil with ease. I did half my lawn so fast! It's very well made and sturdy, from the pole to the spikes, completely durable and a solid product, and for the price? Pretty amazing! I'm going to use this aerator for overseeding my lawn.     • Solid lawn aerator for softer soil.
My goal in ordering the Landzie Spot Seeder Lawn Aerator Tool was to revive the dormant grass on my property in the high desert. I came to the realization that aeration would be required to encourage growth because I live in an area with rather hard soil. Regretfully, the compacted, extremely hard soil in my yard proved to be difficult for this equipment to penetrate. I believe it holds potential for those who have already attempted to loosen their soil or reside in areas with less resistant soil. The build quality of this tool is excellent; it appears robust and long-lasting. For softer lawns, its spiked form is perfect for making small punctures for aeration and sowing. Even though it didn't work for me in the condition of my soil at the moment, I'm sure it will work if the soil in question is better prepared. I have no intention of giving on this tool, for now it's tucked away in my garden tool shed. I think it will be a useful tool once the soil is softened and amended. I recommend using this aerator as part of your lawn care routine if your soil is looser than my rock-hard desert soil. This is a very well-made tool for small-size projects on the lawn. It has enough weight to do the job, and spikes are sharp enough to penetrate the soil. My only regret is that I didn’t check if all spikes were screwed completely into the base upon arrival. I would like to edit this review to say the customer service is attentive and has expressed interest in modifying this small patch area aerator. They care about their product and their customer opinions and I value that, sometimes more than a product itself. Personal contact and customer service is a dying breed and has been for a long time. It's nice to speak to a kind, caring owner and being acknowledged. Original review: This lawn aerator/seeding tool is merely a long, heavy metal stick with four prongs at the bottom to poke the grass area. It would take forever to do a yard. My disappointment is with the "seeder" description. I was under the impression you fill it with grass seeds to stick in the ground to keep birds away or repair dead areas. Nope. It's nothing close at all. I would recommend finding another aerator that could cover a larger area than this poorly designed yard tool. ... show more
