Features

  • Fountain Pen with fine nib
  • Palladium finish with cartridge filling system
  • Twist mechanism

Description

The LAMY dialog 3 is a revolutionary fountain without a cap. Thanks to a fascinating twist mechanism the nib slides elegantly out of the interior of the barrel, while the clip retracts onto the shell. The twist-action fountain pen is then ready to write. When the fountain pen is twisted closed a ball valve automatically moves in front of the opening and protects the retracted nib from drying out and getting dirty. The clip lifts up and the fountain pen can be clipped into a pocket or bag. Twist-action fountain pen in palladium finish. With cartridge filling system with ink cartridge LAMY T 10 blue, converter Z 26 and pen case made of beech. With full retractable 14 Kt bi- Color gold nib, anodized.

  • Lamy Doalog 3 Fountain Pen
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I received the pen in a timely fashion, overseas in about a week. The price was very reasonable, and the pen arrived in fine shape. I had watched a number of YouTube reviews of this pen, was intrigued, had a little extra cash since I hadn't bought a new pen in over a year, and decided to splurge. The mechanism is marvelous. Unlike the Pilot Vanishing Point, which sports a ball-point-like push button, the nib advancement is through twisting the back part of the barrel against the front. As you do this, a spherical shell covering the retracted nib slides to one side as the nib extends. What I like about the pen is its intricate engineering and sleek look; there are just two things I don't like. The first is that the ink flow is a bit skimpy. If I write slowly enough it keeps up, but the line gets a bit anaemic if I go too fast. It doesn't stop flowing altogether, but it does get a might pale. So far I've tried both the cartridge (blue, included with the pen) and the converter (using Parker b/b Quink). It may just be that the nib needs some adjusting, and I may try to find a Lamy dealer nearby (in the UK) to do this, but that's a hassle one shouldn't have to deal with at this price range. The second thing I don't like is something that probably can't be remedied without redesign: when the converter is fully inserted into the section, only the twist knob is visible and you can't see how much ink there is. Knowing how much I and many others appreciate being able to gauge the ink reserve, I'm surprised the designer of this pen didn't think to allow for even a couple of millimeters of view space. My actual rating is somewhere closer to a 3.5 than a 4 star. ... show more

  • nicely weighted (some may find this heavy)
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I received this pen a few days ago. I have owned over 15 or 20 fountain pens, including another one from Lamy. This pen is stylish, functional, nicely weighted (some may find this heavy), but I find the Fine point (which this one is) way too heavy. It feels as thought it is Medium pointed or larger. Is it a simple difference between US/Japanese made ones (such as Sheaffer, Parker, Pilot, Sailor, Platinum) vs European? I have a nice Sheaffer with medium point that I have had for a while and Lamy Fine writes almost identical to Sheaffer Fine point. I am considering returning, simply because it writes such fat lines. I am not sure what to think. My other Lamy is Fine and it is definitely finer than this one. My other Lamy is Safari, only $30 so I did not expect this higher end model to be inconsistent. But I still like the pen so what should I do? ... show more

  • Nothing like having a good Dialog...
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I own this Dialog 3 and the Glossy Black Dialog 3 w/ EF Nib. Both are excellent writing instruments. If you have come this far, do not hesitate to purchase. These are definitely classy attention getters. I like the Fine Nib feels smoother than the EF which is a bit more scratchy. I have used them every day for several months. They are comfortable to the hand and have held up well. I don't abuse them and they look just like the day I opened the box. I do favor the LAMY disposable cartridges (which I refill with a syringe) vs the Z24 converter. I have had two issues with the converter 1) it doesn't seat well and one time is actually seemed to be pulled off the port by the twisting mechanism that reveals the nib. Ink all over, but after thorough cleaning, the pen was good as new (whew). 2) the converter seems to lock up and not feed ink. Reading the reviews of the Z24, this seems to be a converter issue, not a Dialog 3 issue. I have had no problem with the other cartridges in these pens. I use Noodler's red Fox ink in the Silver Dialog and Noodler's black Catfish in the Glossy Black Dialog. As long as I close the cap, they are always read to ink. If I leave them open, they do dry out a bit and take some priming. I do clean the nibs regularly as well. Overall I am very happy with the Dialog 3 and I am glad I bought them. I would buy again. ... show more

  • Fantastic pen. It is a little fatter than most ...
Size: Medium Nib Point
Fantastic pen. It is a little fatter than most fountain pen sections but I like the fat size since I can hold it light and not get fatigue while writing a lot. The gold plated nib writes quite wet and but drys quickly depending on the ink. The build is fantastic and operates like a fine crafted German machine for which it is. I get a lot of questions when I use it and all have said that it is the most beautiful fountain pen they have ever seen. The diameter around the clip and where your fingers go is 13.63mm /.536 inches so check to see if that is comfortable to hold before buying. It weighs 1.7 oz so it may drag your top breast pocket if you have a thin silk shirt, otherwise in a typical dress shirt it works fine. ... show more

  • this will not be a good fit for most people
Size: Medium Nib Point
Pen is pricey for the quality you receive. Buyer beware - the pen has significant heft, and unless you prefer a very heavy pen, this will not be a good fit for most people. A novel design, but the actual mechanics of writing with the nib are not top notch. For the amount of money this pen costs, i cannot recommend this pen for daily writing. ... show more

  • Definitely Buy it for use and your collection
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Great pen! Nice weight and feel. Nib is almost the size of a regular pen. This means it will hold up to lots of use. Writes smoothly and doesn't skip. Writes immediately. I have large hands and use more pressure than I should do to using ballpoints for many years. Pen takes my abuse. Learning to use a softer touch. I have other retractable fountain pens. Their nibs are small in size. Hope I don't wreck them. They look fragile. Dialog 3 is easy to clean and has a tool to take apart the closing mechanism if that gets dirty with ink. Very very satisfied with Dialog3. You won't regret getting it. Workmanship is Supurb. Would definitely purchase again. Thinking of getting one for my friends. Good job Lamy.
