The surface on this pretty pen is a metal instead of the Safari plastic pens. Both are nice but I wanted the shinier look of this color. The grip is nice to hold, giving one more control without having to hold it too tightly. The nib writes smoothly with the fine tip. Being a lefty, I have written with fountain pens for decades. Unlike ballpoint pens a good fountain pen writes smoothly and effortlessly. However, fountain pens have their own issues. They clog, leak, and even the best ones will skip, ruining what should be a perfect writing experience. When I got my first Lamy, it was heaven on earth. The ink flows smoothly and line thickness is even. Writing with a Lamy fountain pen actually makes me write more legibly (I confess, my penmanship is, well, awful) and because of the bold lines it produces, my writing appears authoritative. Since getting my first Lamy, I have retired my Montblancs, Waterman, and even Parker pens and have surrounded myself with Lamy. I prefer to use the optional ink reservoir so I can have access to more ink color options. Right now I’m rocking Lamy turquoise fountain pen ink. The refill operation does result in getting inky hands, but that’s probably me. I can write for a few weeks on a refill. The medium tips make for beautiful lines and I favor them, but for taking notes and making annotations in tight spaces, the fine and ultra fine tips are great. ... show more

Best fountain pen for me. I have 2 that I use daily. Love that I can easily change the nibs if I choose. The paint does wear off of the aluminum, but I like that. Gives it character, in my opinion.

While cleaning, I removed the nib and the feed came out about halfway before refusing to come out more. It was stuck and when I tried to push it back in, it wouldn't budge. I tried just putting the nib back on but there wasn't enough space for the cap to go back on. I tried to push it in a bit more and my nib and feed both bent. Hard to find a replacement for those parts so it's an annoying loss of 30$ after only a few weeks of use. ... show more

I’m a huge fan of Lamy pens, having fairly small hands I find them very comfortable to write with. This one exceeds expectations, the aluminium body make it even nicer to hold. I purchases matching ink to give its beauty justice. And yes, it writes very well.
