This light fixture looks amazing in the room. I paired it with a dimmer switch that was also purchased on Amazon. This light took about 25 min to assemble and another 30 min to wire up, that’s including removing my old ceiling fan. Light comes with good instructions and has all the hardware that you need. The media could not be loaded. This is very beautiful and puts out sufficient light for our dining room/ homeschool room, even when I switched it to the vintage style "Edison" bulbs. The instructions were not adequate. If you've never switched out a light fixture, I would do this after watching YouTube videos or get help. OR you can watch our video. We tried to show step-by-step what to do to install your light fixture. Definitely do this w/ help from at least one other person or - at minimum - the help of a ladder that has a solid base at the top to have a surface to rest this light fixture when you're attaching the wires. But really... just wait till you have the help of another set of hands. 1. First thing... turn off the breaker switch for that light! Then remove the existing light fixture. This should help you to know your way around attaching your new one, but I'll give detailed instructions anyway. 2. Take time to identify your cords/wires and which attach to which. - You likely have 3 cords coming out of your ceiling: a white (neutral), a black (live), and a copper (grounding). - This light fixture will also have 3 wires: one labeled "N", one labeled "L", and a copper grounding wire that is attached to the center of the black base. (If this copper wire is loose, make sure to find instructions to secure it. This is for safety! Another reviewer said his was loose but was able to crimp it down. Ours was fine.) - In steps LATER ON, you will attach the "N" to the white wire, the "L" to the black wire, and the copper grounding cords together. 3. Attach the silver base to your ceiling, as flush as reasonably possible. (Ours was pre-connected to the black base plate, so disconnect those as needed by unscrewing the little black caps on the plate - don't loose the caps!) There are 4 silver screws provided to connect the silver plate, but we used the 2 old screws from the old light fixture b/c there was material blocking the other potential screw areas. The silver plate has many screw placement options (all the openings, except for the "GND" one) to fit your needs. - Then wrap the grounding cord coming from the ceiling around the small teal/blue/green grounding screw that came in your kit and screw this into the hole in the silver plate that reads "GND". 4. Figure out how low you want your light to hang. - We chose a single 12" rod plus the 6" rod, so 18" total (plus 4 or 5 inches to include the base and the hooks at the top). There's also a 2" rod and 2 other 12" rods, so you could have a total of 44" (plus a few inches for the base and not including the depth of the light fixture itself). I suppose you could also use the smallest 6" or 2" pieces, but you'd have a lot of extra cord hanging to wrap or try to conceal (we were able to conceal ours by wrapping it and stuffing it into the base). 5. Take enough time to figure out how to piece it together with the rods. You thread the wires through each of the rods (make sure to place the rods in the right direction so that each screws together). Then thread the piece that I'll call the "rod cap" to the last rod you placed (this "rod cap" has a loop on it). Thread the wires through the center of the black base piece (which also has a loop on it), and toggle the 2 loops together with the black cable ring. 6. Now it's time to attach the wires! Have someone hold the pieced-together light fixture while you attach the wires. * Remember, "L" connects to black, "N" connects to white, and the 2 copper grounding wires connect together. - Find your wire caps (2 orange and 1 yellow). - Connect the "L" wire from the lamp to the black wire from your ceiling, and screw on an orange wire cap (You do not need to pre-twist the wires together, because the cap will do that for you). - Connect the "N" wire from the lamp to the white wire from your ceiling, and screw on the other orange wire cap. - Connect the copper wire from the light fixture base to the copper wire from your ceiling, and screw on the yellow cap. - We were able to stuff these connected cords into the light cavity of the ceiling. Hopefully you can, too! 7. Do what you will with the extra cord. If there's room in your ceiling cavity, gently stuff it in there. We were able to wrap ours up gently to fit within the black base plate. If necessary, you could leave it hanging from below the base plate. It wouldn't look as sleek, but you gotta do what you gotta do. 8. Attach the black base plate to the silver plate (remember those little black caps originally connecting the 2 plates - hope you didn't lose them!) 9. Install lightbulbs, throw the breaker and watch it shine. ... show more

We own two mobile homes- a rental and our own, and I am in the process of replacing all of the light kits. I chose this to go over our dining room table and it looks amazing. It comes well packaged and is your basic hookup with the three wires. Directions are decent and it takes just a short time to install. I cannot describe how much beauty it adds to a room. While it is intended as a rustic element, I added it to a natural, carefree dining room and it looks perfect in there. It offers enough light over a dining table to be adequate but it not going to be a super bright chandelier, as would seem obvious from the design. It does put out a good amount of light though. This light looks great above our dining room table. I like that it has three sockets for bulbs. That will give us plenty of light. The design looks great, especially with Edison bulbs. It installed quickly and I did it myself but it would be helpful to have two people when wiring the light. One to hold the fixture. The only negatives are that the listing and the instructions indicate a 60W bulb can be used in each socket but on the socket itself it says 40W. The other thing that knocks it down a star is that the ground wire came off during installation. I used needle nose pliers to crimp it back on. The ground wire is for safety and was not crimped tight enough. You might want to check yours. ... show more
