Very simple to install, you only need the tool that comes with the packet and a knife. The caps comes with a lock, plastic, but is a lock that I will hope it will prevent them to come of. I’ll probably will drill a small hole and install a screw. The company could do that instead of the plastic lock. Also the company should also give a seal that could go in the bottom to avoid the wind noise, small feature that I’m sure no other company has, just my two cents… ... show more

This is an initial review after unboxing and trial mounting on our 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate with panoramic roof. Installation: the manual isn't much help. Hyundai is unusual in that the mount rails have holes on the inside of the roof mount rails where a pin on the rack clamp is inserted. The racks are just the right length so the outer lip of the clamp fits into the outer grove on the roof rail. If you have not done this before it is not at all obvious how you get the clamps onto the rails. THE TRICK is to open the clamps until they are nearly falling off (note: it's easy to reassemble them if they actually fall off), then start the pin in the hole BEFORE lowering the whole clamp assembly onto the rail. Do this on both sides before lowering the clamps. Now when lowered the pin slips fully into the hole and the outer lip snaps onto the outer rail. Tighten both clamps up and that rail is done. Sturdiness: overall the roof rack looks like it will be strong enough for the claimed load limit if 165 pounds. Two weaknesses are: -the rubber inserts in the clamps that fit between the clamp and the rail want to fall off. It would be easy to miss that this has happened while carrying the racks around to and from storage and the car. - the clamp depends on a single bolt with a Allen type slot, with one Allen wrench provided. Over time this could become worn and be difficult to replace. Value: These racks are about 1/4 the price of the OEM racks. What more can you ask? Suggestions to manufacturer: include some spares for the easy-to-lose but vital rubber inserts and some clamp bolts. When you discover you need one of these you need it right then and cannot wait for a replacement order to be submitted and shipped. Up the price a few dollars if need be, or offer a spares kit. Overall: seems to be a great product! Will update after we use these a few times if any problems or pleasures develop. ... show more

So when you read the description for this product it says there is a 200# capacity. The product I received says it has a 135# capacity. Not a deal breaker for me, but it might be for you!

I really wanted these to work out. For me, the color and design was perfect for my white 2023 Impreza. My first critique was that the end caps that goes on both ends of the bars were very flimsy. I figured I could live with it. Just need to be extra careful around it. 2nd critique was the noise. Between 25-40mph there would be a whistling. I believe this was caused by the open channel on the underside of the bars. Once the car got to highway speeds, there would just be a low pitch wind noise. Clearly, the bar design was not tested. Even with this significant flaw, I was willing to keep the rack. I figured I would just turn my music up. The main purpose I wanted a roof rack is for my kayak. Well, one day while I was washing my car, I leaned a hand on one of the bar ends, and the thing easily slid to the other side. Mind you, I tighten all 4 screws quite a bit. The problem with the design is that a single screw is used to secure both the bar and the base to the vehicle. There's nothing to anchor the bar from sliding side to side except friction. This was the deal breaker. I simply can't trust these to hold a 75lb kayak at highway speeds. ... show more

fit perfectly on my 2005 honda odyssey, easy to install in about 15 minutes and ready to hit the road. Very resistant and light aluminum, its rubber on top helps prevent slipping and cushioning. very happy with this product. 5 star
