  • I tried to love this thing
Style: SLICER SET
First of all let say it, this thing is pretty sharp, no question about it. Sharp to the point it is dangerous if mishandled, and that brings me to the point: the design of this product induces the user to mishandle it. the blade build quality is awesome, the rest not so much. First problem is that it's not really practical to be used with the guard that comes with the product, because it is not a perfect fir for sliding in the edges of the product, and it gets stuck very easily, which makes impossible to produce repeated stokes back and forward in a productive manner. Therefore, you need to start handling the piece by hand, and only use the guard to make the final slices, this by itself its reason enough to stay away from the product because you would buy something like this to increase your productivity or reduce your effort, which you can't achieve with it. Second problem is that the plastic bed, which you adjust for the thickness of the slice, is not sturdy, which means depending on what you are slicing, it will deflect downwards. The result is that you simply can't make a slice that is consistent in thickness with things like cheese for example. When the blade "bites" into the cheese, it starts with the desired thickness, but as the cheese slides towards the blade, the contact area increases (diagonal) and it produces enough force to deflect the plastic piece and increase the slice thickness, and from there, the is no way back, it keeps getting thicker or it stays with that thickness when the stress between the blade cheese and plastic bed is balanced. Third serious problem: very sharp ceramic blade means very easy to chip blade. It turns out that even though I have used this product only with soft objects, cheese being the hardest, I already have a few chips on the blade edge, which means this won't stay sharp for very long. Fourth problem: the blade sits at the end of the bed, which means everything you slice will accumulate on the end of the compartment below the blade, which is about 1/4 or less of the total available space. This means that you need to constantly arrange the slices below to make more space for the next ones, which is extremely counter productive. So my advice to you is the following: unless you are planning to buy this one to slice very soft and medium to small objects, with very thin slices, there are better options out there that will get the job done faster, safer and probably better. This won't be a "solve all needs" tool. So if you want to buy this, you should be open to the possibility to own a second slicer for everything else this one can't do for you. ... show more

  • Very easy to use
Style: SLICER SET
I have another expensive slicer and I now know that I will probably never use it again. This new slicer is so easy to use and store. The product was well-packed; it arrived quickly and they even sent a small soap bar as a gift (perfect for a guest bathroom).

  • Shaved Veggies.... no more "zoodles!"
Style: SLICER SET
I love this thing. I got it because I'm eating more plant based lately and wanted a faster way to slice things. I definitely got that. What I also got was a delicious way to shave zucchini, squash, carrots... a lot of things. I hate zoodles but for some reason zucchini tastes great as ribbons from this thing. Highly recommend. Stores easy too. ... show more

  • Great, thin slices-some flimsy plastic
Style: SLICER SET
These are my second slicer and julienne-r from Kyocera. The older versions, bought 5 years ago, are heavier in construction. The box that is supposed to act as storage and a receptacle is flimsy polystyrene and it cracked as I opened it to remove the slicers. . Despite this, the blades are still great and I have found nothing better for making very thin slices. ... show more

  • Best Mandolins Out There!
Style: SLICER SET
Best mandolins out there! They are sharp, sharp sharp! And they certainly do the job. Also love that you can use the base of the case holds a single mandolin flat and catches what you are slicing. I've owned these mandolins before, but them fifteen years ago at a specialty shop in Portland. Sadly my partner got custody after a break up. :/ Being a vegan, I use these things A LOT— daily! They clean up easily too. One thing you may want to do is purchase is a pair of stainless mesh gloves — I didn't — but I will now. I've already almost sliced off some finger tips. OUCH! The ceramic blades are that sharp! But that's what you want in a mandolin - sharp blades that will never dull. They may seem pricey ... but well worth the initial outlay. You'll have these a long time! ... show more

  • first impression: julienne blade is plastic
Style: SLICER SET
The vertical blade that cuts your veggie into strips is made out of plastic. (Horizontal one is ceramic). Thickness adjustment for the adjustable mandoline is a square plastic bar underneath, which has shims of different height on each side of the bar that adjust the height of the hinged platform to adjust slice thickness. ... show more

  • Great Slicers & grater
Style: SLICER SET
Fantastic slicers! Easy to clean up.. easy to use! I love the grater for adding mozzarella cheese directly on top of salads (or other items) -- makes a nice find grate (would be great with hard cheeses, but nothing softer than mozzarella). The adjustable thickness on the straight slicer works great.. and i love the julienne slicer, especially for cucumbers on salads. The box makes storage easy, and to grate or slice into. I looked at a variety of other slices & mandolins, and am very pleased with this one.. i have been using it constantly for almost a year, and no issues. ... show more

  • Great for slicing onions and potatoes.
Style: SLICER SET
I bought this to shave onions and potatoes down for making fried onion burgers, philly cheese steak sandwiches, and to make hashbrowns from potatoes. Works great, but super duper sharp. Make sure you use a guard (included) or some anti-cut kitchen gloves. I use the latter. One slip and you will lose a fingertip, so don't try it bare-handed. ... show more
