  • Working well for what it cost you
The media could not be loaded. Okay first off this is a $80 KVM so you should expect it not to do everything aas well as a $500 kvm. This one is my my lab rack. I racked mounted it near the top of rack. The mounting ears are included. you have 2 screws and the ears, the other 4 screws are already screwed into the KVM as shown in the pictures. Unscrew those 4 and reuse them to get the mounting ears onto the switch. The ears are not very sturdy and thin compared to some of the network switches I have but they are sufficient as this kvm is very light. When you switch from one device to another there is about a 1.5 sec delay and you will get some delays even with a top of the line KVM. I am using thes as a console for virtual machines and for the HMC console. so not pushing any graphics across the switch and it really is not designed for high quality and refresh rates. It is VGA and it is fine and works well. Power to the unit comes from any USB port that is active and ad long as you have a system online and power over the USB the KVM will power on. There is no power port in r connection it gets the power from the USB port that is pinned out to a port on the VGA cable that plugs into the KVM. I mounted the KVM in the back if the rack and mounted the remote control unit on the front of the rack. looks clean and functioning well. ... show more

  • Great KVM
Great product to work with as many as 8 different computers with 1 monitor, keyboard and mouse. A must have for a computer tech.

  • Good, but doesn't do what I want
This is a generally nice item and as advertised. But I'm left with a problem (my fault, not theirs). I mention it as a heads-up to you. Some of the computers I want to share a single screen, keyboard and mouse don't have VGA ports on them any more - just HDMI and/or DP. I got some dongle/adapters to convert HDMI to VGA, but this then causes the computer to "worry" and only send out a 640x480 pixel image, which in these days of 1920x1080 as a new minimum screen size for most of us, means that the tiny screen viewing window becomes impossible to work with. I'm keeping the unit, because I like it and it was my fault that it can't do everything I want, but I'm now hoping to find a unit that will switch both VGA and HDMI signals. ... show more

  • Good Value for the Money
Overall a decent product for the money and worked for six rack mounted servers with only VGA ports. Reliability and longevity is yet to be determined. Others have complained about the beep when switching between channels yet in a noisy server room it's fine and the decibel level is consistent with other monitor switching equipment. I have not tried to use the secondary USB inputs that would switch to the connected computer; I would typically plug a USB device (OS installation stick as example) directly into the computer since the secondary ports are USB2 only. The unit is not full height 1U so some racks might not align correctly (my rack had no problem accommodating the thinner height). Deducted a star for the cons listed below. Pros: Price Included Cables (although proprietary) Rack Mountable Cons: Rack Mount Ears are thin and the weight of the cables flex the ears. One cable screw separated from the molded thumb screw making it hard to secure. Not all of the chassis female set screw were secured and required tightening. Product Suggestions: Have two monitor output connections available so that the control display monitor can be either VGA or HDMI. Although the monitor being used has both connection inputs, finding monitors with VGA connections becomes harder over time. Use thicker gauge material for the rack mount ears so the weight of the cables do not flex the unit. Allow for an external power supply verses using the computers USB power as the source power supply to the monitor switch box. ... show more

  • Great for price but a bit buggy at times
Great product but I’ve only run into one issue with true nas core where I need to remove the usb during installation

  • Not appropriate with HDMI/VGA adapter
First, I love the build quality of this thing. It feels like military equipment, not typical plastic IT stuff. However, I'm in an environment with a mix of old VGA equipment and newer HDMI-equipped, so I use HDMI/VGA adapters to be able to use a VGA KVM. The video quality of the adapted machines was definitely not as good. Not terrible, but not as good as the KVM I wanted to replace. I freely admit that having the adapter in the chain makes it harder, but my old KVM is better, and I've gone back to that one. ... show more
