  • Running 4 computers w one mouse, one keyboard and one monitor.
I have 3 different Mac Minis and a Windows computer that I use for different tasks. This switch has been a game changer as I can switch computers at the push of a button while using one mouse, keyboard and monitor.

  • Try something else
I am not happy at all with this 4 port KVM switch. Everything works fine on another 2 port switch, but only the TV connects on this. I have been using KVM switches for a few decades. This one doesn't work. I have asked other users what they may have done, or if they had any ideas & wasn't able to get anything of real help at all. I can't find where to plug in any power to help this work any. I did try to contact the seller, via their email address, but it was returned the next day as undeliverable. With a KVM switch I want to be able to turn on the computer which I desire to use, when I desire to use it. I also want to use the pieces that I use. Seeing this works on another KVM switch, I don't see why there is such an issue with this one? I would like to use some peripherals, but that's something else, I'm sure. Anyhow I am not going to return it, as I'd like to fiddle around a bit more with it. If it actually works, I'll post an update. I just wanted to add my laptop to the mix of pieces on my KVM. I didn't think this was going to be so challenging. ... show more

  • Doesn't emulate monitor on deselected computer
The monitor I have connected to this is my primary monitor on a desktop windows machine, but switches to a secondary monitor when used with my work laptop or my antique iMac. When I'm on my windows laptop and have applications or documents open on the switched monitor, then I switch to the iMac or home desktop computer, the laptop sees the secondary monitor disappear and the apps/documents that were displayed on it snap to the primary screen. That means every time I need to switch to one of my other computers for a minute or two, when I switch back to the laptop, I have to rearrange all my windows again to get them where I want them. Annoying. I had an old VGA based KVM switch and it never did that. There was some sort of circuitry in the unit that made the deselected computer still think the monitor was connected even when it was displaying one of the other computers. This one doesn't have that and it's a bit frustrating. Also, the switch has separate USB input ports for a usb mouse and keyboard. I use a wireless keyboard mouse combo with one receiver. It gave me fits when I tried to plug the receiver into either of the ports marked for the mouse or keyboard. I finally put a USB hub on the generic USB port of the switch and plugged the receiver into that to make it work. Basically what that means, though, is that unless you use wired mouse and keyboard, there are two useless USB ports on the switch and only one usable port. Again, I'm able to make it work, but annoying. Other than those two annoyances, it does what it's supposed to do. I do like the remote switch. I keep the KVM itself under my desk so having a remote on the desk is very convenient. ... show more

  • Great Customer Service
My set up is two laptops with a common keyboard, mouse and large secondary monitor to accommodate my elderly eyes. I am planning to install a Raspberry Pi to play around with. My old VGA - USB KVM switch had four very bulky wires and the USB was a bid dodgy requiring the Bill Gates solution (pull the plug and restart) once in a while. The switch was the progressive type requiring going through the connections one at a time in sequence with the base mounted out of sight knowing which connection I was on was a bit of a pain. The HDMI to VGA conversion wasn't perfect either, there was a faint shimmer in the secondary monitor. I bought a new computer with HDMI and my older laptop and second monitor also have HDMI, so time for a change. The MT- VIKI four port switch looked good, buttons to switch between connections directly, a remote to eliminate clutter on my desk, a USB connection for a printer or whatever and the price was right. Installation was a cinch, faster than removing the old bulky switch, and truly plug-and-play. Started up and everything worked as expected. Unfortunately after a few minutes the remote quit working- no indicator lights and no switching. Checked all the connections, the base unit switched but the remote still not working. I didn't want to mount the base unit on my already crowded desk, so I contacted the seller MT-VIKI via Amazon. After a short email exchange explaining the issue, MT-VIKI said they would send me a new remote by Wednesday of the following week. Better than promised, a complete new switch arrived on Monday. Hooked up the remote and I was in business. That is excellent customer service, five stars plus. ... show more

  • It Works
I replaced an old 4 computer VGA KVM switch with this HDMI switch. I was a bit nervous because I have a Windows gaming laptop, a Mac and a standard desktop that does not have an HDMI port (it has a DP port) and a 32" high resolution gaming monitor. Setup was straightforward. I purchased a DP to HDMI adapter for the desktop. Everything worked without a hitch. I get full resolution on my gaming computer and gaming monitor. I was even able to connect my USB headset to the KVM switch and it works on all three computers. Switching between computers is seamless. This device does exactly what it is supposed to do. There was one issue, though. There was an option to buy a "like new" version, but I opted for a new one. When I received the item, it was clearly used but, like I said, it worked fine. I reached out to the seller to let them know I received a used switch just in case I run into future problems. The seller apologized profusely and offered multiple options to remedy the situation. The seller's response was quick and satisfactory. I would buy this switch again and I would buy from this seller again. ... show more
