There was an accident not far from me where the poor pup was thrown from the vehicle and killed, which led me on a search to find a safe way to travel with my bestie. I love taking her everywhere with me, and I did have a strap to connect her to the safety belt, but I just did not feel like her harness or safety restraint were substantial enough. After a great deal of research I settled on the Kurgo Tru-Fit Enhanced Strength Dog Harness. My first impressions when it was delivered was that it is a very substantial harness. All buckles and fittings are steal, and the chest plate on the front is shaped in a way that actually covers her without cutting in to her. I should mention that my pup is a 70lb standard poodle, so finding something that fits her can be challenging. Not a problem with the Kurgo as there are 5 different areas that can be adjusted so it allows for a custom fit. The steel latches are extremely easy to work with, and once set, will hold the sizing until you decide to change them. After fitting her I put her in the back seat and we were off. In its most restrictive setting, I found that this combination holds her securely and allows her to sit and lay down without giving her extra room to move around. That is exactly what I wanted so we went out for a drive, got some ice cream, and then stopped and I attached her leash to the new harness and we went for a walk. I like that this harness does not restrict or cut in to her leg movements as so often happens with this breed because of the deep chest. We are very happy with this product and highly recommend it. I’m so impressed with this harness. The way I see it, when you’re shopping for a (LIFE SAVING DEVICE) car harness for your dog, you’re looking for three things: Safety, Convenience, and Cost. This harness is safe and affordable. Thus, it’s not the most convenient option in the world. Safety: The build quality is FANTASTIC. It’s engineered for performance, the clasps and stitching feel strong. With its appearance and construction in mind, I trust the honesty of the crash-testing. I believe Kurgo is one of few really good dog-gear brands. Convenience: Because this needs to be snug, it requires both un-clipping the rear clips and loosening the front clips in order to slip the harness over my dogs head. It’s a bit of a hassle, tbh. It hasn’t stopped me from using it, because the peace of mind knowing my dog is *actually* safe in the car is so much more important than a few seconds of my time. Maybe I’ll pay more in the future for a more ‘convenient’ option, but for now this harness is incredible for us. ... show more

Seems like a good sturdy harness that will hopefully keep my dog safe in the event of a car accident. I was hoping to find a car harness that could also double as a walking harness because I didn't want to have to switch them out in/near the car every time we went somewhere (probably not a concern for those who walk on a collar!). Some car harnesses don't even have a ring at all to hook a leash onto, but this one has both front and back rings so whichever way you like to use a leash you are set. However, it is pretty heavy and since our dog is only around 30 lb I wasn't sure if he'd be comfortable walking in it. So far we've done a couple of miles at a time and he's been fine but I don't know that I'd want to do that much more. I'm wondering if I found a low profile harness if I could fit this Kurgo harness over it for the car and then take it off and be ready to go. Other considerations: -The side clips seem a little tricky at first but now I like them so much more than traditional buckles. No risk of pinching skin or fur. -I wish the neck section had a clip as well so that it didn't have to go over the head. I'm sure it's more secure from a crash test standpoint this way, but with the harness properly fitted to his neck it's hard to pull over his head because he's pretty fluffy. And I know there are so many dogs who do not like harnesses going over their head too. -The seatbelt loop seems pretty uncomfortable. Our dog was already chill in the car and used to being buckled with the old fashioned leash type buckle; I can't imagine trying to use it with a dog who is used to having free reign. It just seems really tight and awkward. I switched to using the Bark Belt 2.0 with it (carabiner attached to the loop, not the ring- as instructed!) and even though he's laying just where he always did he looks much more comfortable. -I have concerns about the longevity of the loop. I saw some reviews where it had frayed and I can see how that would occur. Both the carabiner and the ring slide along it so over time it is likely to wear down, which is a bit frustrating to know since that's a key component of crash safety! So need to remember keep an eye on it. ... show more

My dogs and I love this seat belt harness from KURGO. Safe, comfortable, well made and easy to adjust to the exact fitting your dog needs. Anchors them safely in the back seat while driving. And it doubles as a walking harness when we are out hiking, with top and front leash rings. If I stop at a store it's easy to unclip the carabiner so the dogs can move around in the back seat, then re clip them when driving. However I would not have this be a harness that my dogs wore at home - a little too sturdy. What's not to like? Highly recommend. ... show more

I got this harness for my alaskan klee kai, Dick, for car rides and walks. I use it with my Kurgo zipline in the car to keep him secure and safe during car rides. It is lightweight and not too bulky, so it disappears into his thick fur during walks. The straps took a little while to figure out, but once I got them they're very sturdy and the metal clips are super secure. It doesn't help at all with his pulling, even with the front attachment, but that's not what I bought it for so I don't care. ... show more
