Very easy to use and seal up tight. I used a small torch and it worked perfectly. I think you could also use a butane lighter and it would work just as well. The solder melted very easily. I was concerned the plastic would get too hot and melt but it holds up really well. When joining a lead connector wire (splicing 3 wires at the same connection) you have to step up to a larger connector and you need to press at the ends to help seal it up but I it appears to have a good seal against the elements. If it is being used on a boat trailer that is going to be going under water i would recommend a tight wrap of some other product over that connection, but for something that you are trying to keep elements out this is a great product. ... show more

These are real convenient and do a decent job. My only complaint is the soldering them has a high melting point, so sometimes if you're not careful you can burn the plastic on the wire you're working with before the solder melts. So just be wary of that issue.

I had to adjust the temp on my Milwaukee heat gun to choose about 3/4 full temp, then they worked great. The manufacturer recommends a reflector tip, but I'd worry too much about touching that tip to the connectors. Instead I prefer to use these with a narrow point tip. These will not work well with the mini heat guns used on heatstrink tubing, as they'll end up burning the plastic before they melt the solder. But a full-fledged heat gun with variable heat setting works great. ... show more

Bought this for in ground, 12v low voltage landscaping lights. Bought Mar 15, 2023. Not sure how long ago their failed, but the four of them I had in the kit, two completely failed and two were a loose connection and were replaced August 26, 2024. Notably, the copper was not corroded l, but instead the solder must not have melted so the connections physically separated. ... show more
