  • New old stock non-smart basic TV for the win!
I was looking for a non-smart TV, which BTW is almost impossible now days, due to my last 2 smart TV's started acting up around a 1 year after purchasing. Basically freezing up, self restarting, etc. Factory resetting didn't help. So found this TV which is basically new old stock, from i Believe 2017? It's just a basic TV that works and has zero bullshit software to crash. I watch over the air TV (antenna free TV) and working perfectly! Has a good picture but the sound does suck so I have it running through my stereo which everyone should consider doing or least a sound bar! Also have my fire stick plugged in and picture with it is great as well. It's a great basic TV! ... show more

  • Worth Every Peenny
Goal 1 was to get easy 100% mirroring nor NFL replay - check. TCL cannot do this. Goal 2 was to have a remote with a SOURCE control, like my 32 in Septre TV - check Goal 3 was to make sure everything works - check. This TV like many others has insuffient volume when using DVD players, but this is fixed by using It is very annoying to have to point the remote to the right and then to make any on screem adjustments on the left. a good sound bar. Great TV. ... show more

  • Screen broken in a year.
The screen no longer has any picture about a year after purchase, more than likely a backlight or board issue. The warranty for this item would make me ship it back to the manufacturer at my own cost. Yeah, I'm not paying $50-$100 to ship a TV that I paid $180 for. While it worked, the picture was fine, the sound was horrible. I ended up having to buy a soundbar that was more expensive than the TV. In retrospect, I should have just bought a more expensive TV even if I didn't need the smart features. I probably would have given the TV 3 or 4 stars if it actually worked for at least 5 years, but the fact that it broken in about a year make it a zero stars. ... show more

  • It's what the price implies
I bought this because I was looking for a dumb TV that could jump between channels on over-the-air broadcasts using good old-fashioned number buttons, and this was one of the few models available capable of doing that. The first unit I was sent arrived damaged (there was a big fold/protrusion on the left side of the TV), but the exchange was as painless as an exchange is capable of being, and the replacement has been up and running for two weeks now. The low price was attractive, but not surprisingly, it correctly implied that the TV wasn't going to excel at anything. The image is... fine. It took a bit of effort playing with the display settings to get the picture quality where I wanted it, and the picture still feels a little bright/washed out on occasion. (Simply turning the brightness down negatively impacted the color and contrast. There's a power-saving mode that automatically runs the LEDs at a not-as-bright setting, but if you try to adjust the other sliders in any way -- and you'll want to, as the default settings aren't ideal -- the power-saving mode is automatically deselected.) The light isn't quite distributed evenly across the entire screen -- the corners are slightly dimmer, and there are wide, faint, vertical "bands" near the center that reveal where the LEDs are concentrated. But these dimmer spots are only noticeable when the screen displays a solid color -- during normal moving-picture viewing, they aren't detectable. The speakers aren't great, which is to be expected from any flat screen TV, although these sound especially hollow. But the unit has a port for an optical cable so you can hook up a proper sound system. Overall, though, the unit does what I want it to do, which is give me a way to watch broadcast television without wasting my time with menus and app promotions. The picture is good enough, and there are three HDMI ports and a set of component video ports to give you plenty of options for attaching other devices. It's an affordable television, for all the positives and negatives that entails. ... show more

  • A Perfect TV for those who use streaming devices
When my old TV started having some issues and I needed a replacement I found myself a bit overwhelmed and deluded by the current TV market. There's so much smartness and a thousand and-one-ways to access one simple channel. But why??? Does anyone value simplicity anymore??? I have a Roku streaming device to which I can connect a wired connection so there's zero buffering. I don't want to have to go from one smart interface to access another and all of the features feel redundant. I work at a school where we have smart vizio TV's hooked up to apple TVs devices for screen sharing and I can't tell you how often people get confused in maneuvering through it all. I think it's tragic that I have to find some off brand on Amazon to get a simple non-smart TV. That said I'm grateful to Scepter for existing and manufacturing this. The TV is solid, simple and affordable. It has a great picture quality. The remote control is simple with simple directions. The warranty is fair. Thanks for keeping it real Scepter and keep up the good work. Less is SO more. ... show more

  • This is a good tv.
This is a good TV. I ordered it for my Aunt who just moved to assisted living. the assisted living facility prefers residents to have an old school (not smart) tv and this is one of the few available. The assisted living facility told me this tv was defective and I started a return but when I replaced it with an old tv I had at home, the problem persisted. It turned out to be the cable box. They replaced the cable box and this tv has been just fine so I cancelled my return. This tv has a pretty good picture and sound for the price. ... show more
