I think I am enjoying this more than my 4 year old. Easy to use. The bucket motion is coordinated with the arm motion so not as complicated as I feared. Fun toy. Not super great at scooping but that's okay. Thats why a 4 star vs 5.

UPDATE 2 - 5/20: Customer service eventually replaced the entire unit since I was not able to repair the remote. It took a couple months of back&forth to get a replacement, but they were ultimately helpful and offered a replacement free of charge. UPDATE 1 - 2/20: Sadly this lasted only one month. The controller has stopped working (yes I've confirmed charged batteries in both units). It wasn't damaged or broken by us, it just stopped working. I've contacted the seller (supposedly 1-year warranty) they responded once, but appeared to not understand what I was saying even though the problem is clear. They did not help. I sent them a video... sent them follow-up emails. No response. No help. No repair. No replacement. No refund. -- I've since taken the controller apart to investigate and found that the wiring just came apart inside. Cheaply made. Not reliable. Bad customer service. ORIGIN REVIEW 1/20: This was a hit! Dad likes it as much as the son, and everyone is impressed with it. Got it on sale so it certainly seems to be worth way more than I paid for it. Controls and capability of excavator is really good overall. My only negative thoughts are slim. I wished it was a little but bigger. The battery/compartment needs to be unscrewed and removed to charge, which can be a little annoying but not too bad. And my one worry is how long it will last... it is well built, but the plastics and metals could be a little heftier to add some weight a d strength. But with luck it should withstand a few good years of play. <after update, buy a different company, does not last> ... show more

The remote takes a bit to get used. Highly detailed. The only bad flaw is having to constantly remove the battery pack to charge. would be nice it there was a external charging port after initial battery installation.
