I’ve been making sourdough for about 8 years and I’m a trained engineer and work-flow specialist. I really understand when something is properly designed and great quality. Everything about this jar is intelligent. The use of either cloth or silicon to cover the top, the day\time band, the very heavily printed numbering and lettering, the thermometer which works very well and the just the inclusion of the weight of the jar so you can weigh your total mix weights. Good instructions and so far the first batch of bread was great. One warning, it uses fermentation to rise, not yeast. Plan on a lot more work and careful observation to keep from rushing it or letting it try to rise too long. It is a long process with a chunk of work, but the store bought stuff is full of junk we have been working to reduce in our diet for years. Made my first sourdough starter with this kit. It had everything I needed for success. the jar itself is sturdy and big enough to accommodate your growing starter. The cloth lid is perfect for keeping the bad stuff out. The silicone base keeps your jar from slipping during feedings. And the reminder band and stick om thermometer add a nice touch. I'm so happy with this that I bought one more with another in my basket to give as a Christmas gift. Nice heavy glass containers. The little thermostat readings are little harder to read the color changing but not too bad. Like that it doesn't take up a lot of space on my counter & it comes with all the accessories. Not hard to clean.
