This works pretty well, but Klein has released this, wrote up a bunch of documentation on updating the firmware, but has never released a new firmware version. The phone app to transfer photos from the device doesn't reliably connect as it often takes 2 or more attempts. It's an unpolished product. I would not recommend this, but would instead recommend looking at companies that specialize in thermal cameras like HIKMicro. I returned this for the cheaper HIKMicro B01, which is higher quality, works better, higher refresh rate and is actually maintained. The form factor is also much better that is easier to hold and has tripod support. ... show more

The TI270 is a great thermal imager overall, but it has one major flaw: The quality of the exported pictures is extremely low. The pictures suffer from very noticeable JPEG compression artifacts and look a lot worse than what you will see on the built-in screen while using the camera. I talked to Klein support and was told this is to "optimize file size and storage capacity". While smaller file sizes may have been a valid concern in the past, it seems outdated when 128 GB SD cards are available for $12. In theory this can be fixed with a firmware upgrade but it seems unlikely that they will deliver that. ... show more

It is easy to troubleshoot an electrical issue by looking for the hot spots. Also useful for proving that the air coming out of the HVAC is not being heated/cooled properly. The color makes it easier to find when it gets "borrowed".
