I started using Klean Kanteen water bottles in 2013. The first one I purchased has been dropped on hard surfaces several times and has some dings in the metal, but is still going strong. I wouldn't have purchased several other Klean Kanteen bottles over the years if I didn't think they were the go-to water bottle. The first two came with 3.0 sports caps, which have some issues. By the time I ordered my third Klean Kanteen, I tried one with a loop cap. I discovered that the loop caps are better than the sports caps. I got rid of the sports caps and replaced them with these loop caps. The sports caps leak, make weird sucking sounds when you drink out of them, and require putting your mouth on whatever plastic-like material those (and these) are made from, which tastes bad, and is probably an endocrine disruptor. But the plastic chemical issue is rendered trivial because, as bottle caps, the loop ones are signifcantly better than the sports caps. With loop caps, your mouth will never be directly on the plastic. The loop caps have zero leakage. Also available in black, the green version imparts a distinctive look to your Klean Kanteen bottles. The hole is big enough to allow insertion of my average-thickness pinky finger past the distal knuckle, so you if your fingers are of a similar thickness, you could curl a pinky finger around the hole and carry the bottle that way. Color is nicer in person than online. These fits our Klean Kanteen sippy cups from several years ago, keeping them useful as the kids get older. I really didn't want anything that would drip, but I probably should have gotten the water bottle spout instead anyway. They take a little bit of effort for little hands to open & close, so my kids don't seem inclined to use these as much as they would if it were quicker to take a little sip from on the go. They loved the sippy version though, so I haven't completely put the sippy lids away like I'd hoped to. ... show more

I wanted a cap for my bottle that would allow me to carry it in my purse since I don't always carry a bag that has a bottle pocket. Since then, I've started using this cap with a carabiner too, and hooking it onto a bag that doesn't have pockets so that my bottle is easily accessible. I do like the sport cap for drinking and bring that one along to the gym, but now I don't have to worry about my bottle leaking.
