The fan is pulling heat away from the PlayStation. It uses a USB spot but has a replacement USB female port. There is an auto setting so I assume it will turn off after cooling enough or with the PlayStation turned off. Super easy to install!

I got this because my PS5 is sitting inside of one of the shelves on my fireplace tv stand and would overheat and force my ps5 into standby mode to cool off in the middle of games. I purchased this and I haven’t had any issues since. So glad I bought this. And it’s a great value. The fan can be a little loud depending on the speed of airflow that you choose, but honestly, once you put your headphones on, you don’t hear it. I don't play for 10-12 hour days but when I do my ps5 does get pretty warm so I bought this fan. It cools it down pretty quick with all 3 Frans going at once. It has 3 setting off low speed and high speed. When on low speed you can barely hear it going but on high ot is way louder than I'd like it to be. The one thing that annoys me the most about it is that if you don't go into the settings of the ps5 and set your USB to turn off after 3 hours or have them shut down when the ps5 is in rest mode it does not turn off in rest mode. Most us charge our controllers through the USB ps5, so if there is a way to make that better that would nice ... show more

As PS5's are quite expensive, it's a good idea to protect it & this fan is great for keeping it cool. We'll see how long it lasts but I've used it for a couple weeks, several hours a day with no issues. Since I travel alot, I didn't want some big bulky fan base to lug around so this is perfect. Very lightweight & takes up little space in the travel bag. Connects perfectly & the blue lights are a nice touch. Unless you're sitting right next to it you'll barely hear it, if at all. The first time I plugged it in I left it off to let my PS5 warm up. After about a half hour it was pretty warm. Turned on the fan & immediately felt hot air coming out. 5 minutes later nothing but cool air coming out & my PS5 felt nice & cool. Again, we'll see how long it lasts while also being bounced around during travel, but for the money, it's a great buy. ... show more

I started by comparing the ambient temps of the console, it was vertical and with no fan, versus, vertical and with the fan. Finally, I compared the PS5 horizontal and with no fan, versus, horizontal with the fan…. After numerous hours of gaming in all configs, I determined that the fan reduced the temp of both the outgoing air and the temperature of the case/ clamshell pretty decently, making the case temp feel only slightly higher than room temperature. While vertical and without the fan, the rear part of the shell felt 87-90 degrees, Fahrenheit. Taking the fan off and gaming long hours, horizontally, the case temps itself felt just as cool as when standing up and with the KIWIHOME fan on. However, with the console horizontal and the fan on the shell/ case temps actually felt slightly warmer! Obviously the air coming out the PS5 exhaust port feels hotter in any instance where the fan is not used, but the temp of the air coming out isn’t an indication of the chip running hot inside, as that is only the heat being extracted from the chip, via, the heatsink. In fact? This fan paints a false impression, since it only cools the air coming out, by mixing it with cooler ambient air, which is drawn through the gaps in the sides of the fan (top/ bottom of vertical) and from between the clamshell and the console, however, it is also directing the heat away from the console better than the console manages on its own, which can be beneficial, if not blowing it at a wall or cavity where it can collect. So, in theory? Even though this fan is isn’t forcing more air through the console, it could be keeping the console a little cooler, by making sure the heat is as far away from the console as it can be and by mixing cool air with the air drawn out, therefore reducing ambient case temps. My point? The fan has too many gaps to actually force more air through your console, it’s like it needs to come with foam/ rubber seals to truly accomplish this, in addition to 3D printing the fan to match the grill on the PS5 exhaust port. ... show more
