My 250 gig nvme ssd was nearing capacity so I opted for this drive. Once I got all the screws off the laptop this went right into the slot. Be carefull which way you slot the drive. Mine went both ways so I had to re-do. Once installed I put in a fresh copy of Windows. The plan was to use the old drive as a portable after pulling data to the new drive. That was the plan. But apparently the old drive was encrypted with bitlocker and I didn't have the 48 digit key. I wasn't aware of it and didn't pull it before removing the drive. So...I was thinking I was stuck and needed to re-install the old drive, boot and pull the key. Thankfully I didn't want to go through the hassle and did some research. My microsoft account had the key available online and I was able to get back into the drive. ... show more

Bought this as a cheap upgrade for my work laptop. Hard to believe laptops still come with spinning drives in this day and age. It was usable, but boot ups were so slow and when windows updates came around the machine would take forever to update. The spinning drive is a 1TB, but I don't need a lot of storage so I went with the 500GB Kingston. Took about an hour to clone the drive using macrium's software and the difference was night and day. Boot up is nearly instant and everything runs smooth. Drive does not come with an m.2 screw, so check your motherboard first to see if you need one. Mine did not have one so I bought a small set of them here on Amazon with the drive. Very happy so far. I only just installed it though, so if anything changes I'll update here. ... show more

I needed a cheap nvme drive due to me just needing something to run the operating system for gaming. This thing I should have bough the bigger version because now I am addicted to using nvme instead of using my hard drives because it is a massive improvement for gaming but oh well not the end of the world.
