What can I say, it's a pretty cool little tool. Professional feel, definitely an upgrade over a cheap and basic ELM327 dongle with a free app (such as Veepeak with Car Scanner app). The Kingbolen Ediag Elite utilizes it's own app that has countless features and options with a sleek look. Still in the process of exploring, but overall, it does the basics (plus way more) that I want it to. If anything, it probably has more features than I want or need (I'm an at home DIY'er, not a professional mechanic). Best part is, the only cost of this tool is the initial purchase. There is no annual subscription or other forced upgrade options. This is the single biggest reason I chose this tool over the other popular affordable bluetooth bi-directional options such as Topdon, Thinkdiag, Launch, Mucar, Xtool (no sub but more $) and other more expensive mainstream basic options like Bluedriver (non bi-directional, no subscription fee but has much less features than this mini powerhouse Kingbolen Ediag Elite). I did a ton of research to find the most affordable bi-directional bluetooth OBD2 diagnositic device with no subscription fees, and this is what I landed on. Couldn't find anything else even close. App has an easy user interface and nice reports. One minor thing so far, would be the scan process is 'slightly' on the slower side (not unbearable, but seems like it could and should be much quicker), but wonder if this is something they'd be able to address with an update? If you're on the fence, give it a try. Customer service seems to be friendly and responds fairly quick if you may run into any issues. I'm sure they'd be willing to help solve a problem if you were to run into anything and may consider a return if you're regretting it (check with return policy first, not sure on that, don't take this as any type of advice). First the unboxing. Everything is packed nice and neat with the scan-tool in its own carrying case. Setup was a breeze and no issues. Had a car with a random TPM error. I have cleared the code with another tool but the light stays on. So far after clearing the light has not came on. The error was about reading a tire pressure. Yet in the tool and the screen it would show the correct tire pressure and identifier. I do like the carrying case that comes with it. It keeps the tool dust free. In the past I have had trouble finding a good scan tool that connects to my iPhone. I was excited to see this one works with my iPhone 14 Pro no problem and has a lot of the same diagnostic tools as my dedicated scan tools. Originally I thought the case was unnecessary but I actually really love the feeling of the little case it comes with! KINGBOLEN Ediag Elite OBD2 Scanner is great because I no longer have to google the code off my cheap OB2 scanner but the waiting on the software is killing me probably the bluetooth to the phone. I have it on fast internet and on a old cell phone that is only on wifi. Not sure how much I trust the software but that's what you get. ... show more

It was easy to install the app and just as easy to use once I got the hang of it. The fact that it is bi directional is a great feature and it has more functions than the hand held unit I have. So far it has worked great for resetting the codes on my Tucson and the fault descriptions are great. I am looking forward to using it on my other vehicles. ... show more

    • Software does everything, but is infuriatingly slow. Useless !
This Edaig system consists of a Bluetooth dongle and a cell phone app. The dongle plugs into your car’s On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) port and communicates with your cell phone through the app. But there is a cultural problem which makes this system useless for most Do It Yourself users. American DIYers need an ODB scan tool which quickly shows the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), so we can locate and repair the problem. Traditional dedicated ODB scan tools allow the user to view the DTCs within seconds. Then if necessary, the user can also use the scan tool to command the car’s computers to clear the DTC. That is useful for spotting intermittent or false-positive problems. By contrast, this Ediag system takes about 3 minutes to comprehensively scan through every single possible system, including many which my cars don’t have. For example, it looks for faults on the seat-belt tensioner and immobilizer systems, but that wastes time because none of my cars have those aboard. After about 3 minutes, Ediag presents the results, but not in a single list as dedicated scan tools do. Instead, I have to open the “abnormal” report on each system before I can view the DTC. Then Ediag gives me the option to generate a PDF report which I can take to the mechanic. The report is essentially the same information, but formatted nicely. So, I had to wait 3 minutes to get info which should have only taken a few seconds. The Ediag software does have some impressive capabilities to reset and calibrate individual systems. But that is not what DIYers are looking for when they need to repair a car right now. Unfortunately, the slow reporting makes this Ediag Elite system useless for most mechanics. My 2013 honda civic check engine light was on, scanned with this scantool, shown p302 code, replaced ignition coil on cylinder 2, cleared code and vola! car running smoothly again. Engine light stay off. This value scantool save me big time. Bring to dealer would cost me hundreds for my problem.
