  • Does exactly what I was looking for
This is my first indoor trainer and I'm very pleased with how well it works. My road bike required a new thru-axle for use with it, which I also bought from Kinetic, and I also added a training tire. This unit does everything I need it to do and I've been getting a good workout. I use my Garmin Edge 1000 with it and have sensors on my bike for speed and cadence, so don't require those from the trainer. I do pick up the ANT+ signal for power, which is useful to have for stationary training. I bought this for general aerobic and cycling fitness over the winter, and so far it has been perfect for that purpose. ... show more

  • InRide Sensor 3 Pairing & Other App Related Issues
As of 17-Jun-2019, this trainer has been mixed feelings. Set up is generally quick and intuitive. I have a Felt AR-5 and did NOT need a thru-axle as it was already provided by Kinetic. The included and installed Kinetic InRide Sensor 3 has been troublesome. It will read onto the Kinetic mobile app, and will calibrate, but when connected and calibrated to Zwift mobile app, my avatar rider was way off pace from other riders. Another issue I've found is if you try pairing via bluetooth the InRide sensor to your laptop for Zwift, the trainer will go offline while pedaling. NOT sure if its a laptop issue, but the only way I've been able to reset the InRide is by removing and reinstalling the battery. Then I can use it with Kinetic again if need be. Also, for new riders, beware of all the apps you currently use. Currently, my Garmin Forerunner 235 watch will NOT send my heart rate to Zwift or Kinetic apps. Same for watt data, distance, speed data from Zwift or Kinetic to Garmin Connect. The only way I've found to do so is by manually downloading and uploading data from rides into the respective apps. Makes it very time consuming to track your performances. Unless someone can say otherwise, looks like I'll be investing into more sensors and/or more time and money... **UPDATE** As of 8/16/19, 252km logged, this unit is robust and works just fine. The phone app can be a little finicky when you're trying to calibrate. Just be sure your sensor is not paired with anything else and you'll be able to calibrate, then unpair with the app, and pair with Zwift or whatever you use. Also, my Garmin Forerunner watch does pair with Zwift regarding heart rate. Just needs to be in it's activity setting. Recommendations: -Buy a couple batteries for the InRide Sensor because the previously installed one will die out soon after initial use. -Purchase a ANT+ cable for your laptop. It'll make pairing to devices way easier. ... show more

  • Will not pair - arrived dead
I will update if their customer service is good but out of the box it will not pair with any Bluetooth devices. I followed instructions provided in the package and on their website as well. I attempted to pair with 2 different batteries (both test good) and using 3 different devices. iPhone, iPad and Samsung Galaxy tab. I have sent an email to their support and am waiting to hear what their solution is. Update: the InRide 3 was bad, the manufacturer shipped me another one and now it works as intended. I am updating to 3 stars, I think quality control was not good but they did make it right. The frame is very solid, the noise level is not bad at all. The sensor provides all the data I was looking for. ... show more

  • Great Trainer Overall...
The Kinetic Road Machine Smart 2 Trainer is an excellent training device, but I’ve put a significant investment in Garmin devices, including an Edge 1000 GPS device and a nmber of Sensors (Heart Rate, cadence, speed and distance). Kinetic has provided their own sensor system, but the feedback is very inconsistent compared to my Garmin sensors. I still believe that Kinetic makes excellent equipment but from what I’ve experienced they are relying on their current platform. I’d like to revisit this Trainer after I reach out to Kinetic and give them a chance because I love the trainer’s build. ... show more

  • Easy set up
Well constructed. Would be nice to mention on certain bikes you need a special axle. I purchased one but have a Salsa Cut throat and had to purchase a $50 axle for it to work plus the wheel is too big and hits the floor when on the stand so had to elevate the back of the trainer on blocks to get it off the floor. Makes it a little unstable. ... show more

  • Nice trainer
For the money and style, this seems to be a good trainer. This is the second one that I have bought. I got one for my wife and got tired of having to share and bought another. The distance, speed, and such all seems to track almost the same as my Garmin tracks. I use my garmin to track the rides just because it displays more info at once on the screen during the ride but the kinetic app does do a good job tracking, I was actually pretty surprised. I also pay for 3 months of the app each winter and don't mind it, I am sure there are better ones out there but I am a mountain bike guy and there aren't many apps I can find geared to MTB, this one does have a training plan for MTB. ... show more
