This is a review of Kimbo's Espresso Napoletano dark roast whole bean coffee. Ordered this looking for a stronger espresso than what I had been having. The description of a Neapolitan flavor appealed to me, having lived in Naples years ago. It is also one of the few dark roast coffees available in whole beans. The package arrived in a padded envelope, which was just sufficient protection. It came in 2 days. Though ordered in April 2023, the beans are labeled "production 29/09/21." That's a two year-old harvest. It is not clear when they were roasted. It also reads "Expiry 29/09/23." Personally, I would not expect coffee to last two years. I have brewed a few cups now with my Lelit PL41 machine. I make espresso, cafe cortado, and cappuccino. I find the coffee to be quite nice overall. The flavor is robust with a pleasant, lingering mild bitterness, and stands up nicely to the milk additions. It does have the true, Neapolitan richness. I can only wonder how much better it would be if it were fresh. I will order again and if I ever get a fresh batch may well upgrade my review and give it the fifth star. ... show more

So I didn’t read how big the bag was haha. It’s huge! The smell when I opened it was heaven, I use it for iced lattes but was disappointed in the strength of it. It’s medium strength and taste is ok, not bitter. I can’t say I would re buy

The coffee was ok. I have a Calphalon espresso machine, which produces a lot of crema when I use pregound Lavazza or Illy, with this preground espresso there was much less. The taste was ok.

I am a regular consumer of espresso - usually 3-5 doubles a day. I went through two bags of this, and I generally liked it. To my taste, this is a strong flavored (verging on dark roast) and full bodied coffee. It produces very good amount of crema. Though I usually drink my espresso straight, this one tempted me to add a touch of cream. I think these beans are a little on the oily side as the ground coffee tended to stick to my grinder's bin. First off, WE LOVE KIMBO!! The only Brand we are truly happy with. Only brand we buy since living in Italy. I was super excited when I bought our first bag of beans here on Amazon. The roasted/packed date and best by date was acceptable. Especially considering many other boxes of capsules we’ve bought over the years. Those dates matter! Happy with the first bag of beans , we bought our 2nd bag. The newest bag is just unacceptable. Where did they even find this lot at? Way back in a hidden corner and they’re just want to get rid of it??!! I’m now uncertain about buying again. I really thought we had found a good Amazon supplier. So disappointed right now. I only wish the supplier would be more considerate and take pride in its products to only send out the best. I love the lightness of the coffee but the strength of regular coffee. My stomach gets upset w the darker coffees but this one don’t do that and it’s so tasty
