The old book subscription was way better. You can’t even see which books are sent without having any choice. Even once they’ve shipped. This is not worth it!

If you want to pay for the surprise of not picking your own books each month, then maybe it’s worth it for you. I had this subscription months ago and not only did it allow you to see the books you’d get ahead of time, it would let you swap out with a small selection of alternatives. This books I got
this month 1) were not even worth the value which I paid 2) not books my toddler was interested in at all. I canceled as soon as we received this months box and will not be renewing.

My kids love getting these books every month. I like that it is a variety of books that they wouldn’t normally read so it exposes them to new books and series.

These are like magazine quality printed paper. Not books. Too fragile for young kids.

These books are just "OK". Like many others mentioned, the old subscription was much better for the same price. There are no options with these books on content, and they are flimsy paper magazines. You can buy these at Ollies or any discount store for 99 cents. I cannot recommend this at all for the
price and have already canceled after 2 shipments. So $40 for at most $12 worth of stuff. Raw deal.

I'm not a fan of this new subscription. I ordered it as a gift for my nephew and niece. The old one used to let us choose the books, this one doesn't and I don't even know what books were sent. Probably will be canceling soon.

Not Appropriate For Age Group Specified.
Plan Option: Readers (0-12)
I was looking for a monthly book subscription for my granddaughter. I had read mixed reviews about this service so I had the first set sent to my home so I could tell for myself. I have to side with the people who said the books were not well-chosen for the specified audience. I picked 0-12 months. O
ne book was a board book and it was about the nose. It was cute. The other two were not for a 6-month old. One was a "First Reader" with small peel off stickers to place in the book. The other was nursery rhymes, but more of the Grimm's variety. No rhyme, no meter, and one was about pulling off a guys legs. Definitely not age appropriate. I ended up just buying a bunch of books from Amazon with 10,000+ reviews, 4.8+ stars, and rated by customers on age group appropriateness. I ended up with a great list of well-known and loved books. Now I'll just send her some each month. It took a little longer and some research, but in the end I think it will be well worth it. Reading is too important to start them out with "just whatever". I want all the book spines to be worn and cracked and the pages falling out from how often it was read. Not used under a short leg on a bedside table to keep it from wobbling. :)

We just received our 2nd box for my 8 year old son. The books are the perfect size and have the right amount of pictures to encourage him to read on his own. My son has loved the theme of spies and science and can't wait to see what is coming next.

Not the best quality books for the price and you can't choose the books. I miss the old book club where you could choose 3 out of a list of 5 for the shipment.

WORST BOOK CLUB SUBSCRIPTION - CANCEL NOW
Plan Option: Readers (0-12)
Love how we didn't even get a notice of the change in provider. The old one was way better. Not even an option to choose between books! The mandated curation has sent us multiple duplicates requiring us to go through needless steps to return. Just give customers a choice. CANCELLING IMMEDIATELY.

Great concept, fair implementation, elimination of quarterly delivery option ended my participation
Plan Option: Readers (0-12)
I was gifting quarterly subscriptions to 13 kids (relatives and friends) of all ages for about 4 years. Generally, the book selection was good, and the kids (and parents) loved getting their boxes. The two drawbacks were that the boxes could not be tailored for gender and grade (only age), and since
I was paying for the subscription, the advance notice of the default selection came to me, not to the parents, so it was difficult to manage any desired selection changes. And then, unfortunately, the quarterly option was ended abruptly, and Amazon cancelled my subscription with little notice. I am disappointed that I can no longer participate. I hope that Amazon will reconsider the delivery frequency and will find a way to facilitate parental input when someone other than the parents is gifting the subscription!!
