  • Seems like a good replacement..
So, this was a good fit for my 2017 ford explorer. My old KeyFob was cracked and the key ring slipped off, but the remote was still working. This is just an empty FOB, so it's pretty easy to transfer the circuit board and battery from the old to the new fob case. I also tranferred the old key inside the new fob and just tossed the new one included .. because it isn't cut to fit your car. It's a blank key. So, all in all it looks great, and doesn't need programming (if your old remote was still working). It also doesn't have the little ford sticker on the back of the fob , but I am ok with that! The dealership charges at least $250 for a new key fob with programming. ... show more

  • They work.
Like thousands of others, I broke the ring off a couple of my fobs. These things are a precise match. On both of mine, I was able to use the Ford internals and retain the factory back plate but these would work just as well without doing that. Hopefully I won’t need more, but, if I do, I would buy these again. ... show more

  • First good, second deplorable
Bought these, 2 days apart. First one came, assembled quickly without any problems; buttons worked and everything. I was so impressed I bought another one for my spare. The new replacement arrives and the entire thing is in pieces. Even the silver attachment for the key ring wasn’t attached; that part is supposed to be connected so that it doesn’t offset the placement when you snap it altogether. Nevertheless, after several attempts I still have at least one button that will not work. Certainly unsatisfactory. ... show more

  • Need to follow You Tube Video!
Important to understand that this is only a case; not a replacement key!!! Also, I find the battery connectors found in the case are not as reliable as the original ones provided in the old case so I do recommend transferring these to your new one. Also, putting the case together with the metal clip to attach can be tricky and can break easily. I would recommend going thru the video in steps to ensure you put your old key together correctly the new case . ... show more

  • Excellent replacement key shell
This was to replace a fob that I dropped, for the 100th time, and the buttons fell off. I watched a Youtube video for how to replace the battery so I could open it. It was really easy after that. I kept my old shell back, as it had the running horse logo this replacement did not, and it fits perfectly with the OEM front and interior parts. It looks like new. This is a great option to a $180 replacement if the key interior is ok. ... show more

  • Need a key fob case for this to work properly
The pieces fit together ok, once you get the hang of it. But the piece that attaches to your key ring is made of plastic, and the prongs that hold it in place inside the fob will break off VERY easily. So, what do you do? Get a soft key fob case, they run about $10. This will actually hold the whole thing together as well as protect it. I was going to return this, but I had a case that I accidentally ordered. Using both together, it works fine. I checked out the other fob shells, and it seems they ALL have this problem. So yes, it will cost you a bit more, but nowhere near what it would cost to get a new case from the dealership. ... show more

  • Works great
Swapping out the chip inside my old remote was a pain for sure. You have to get all the buttons lined up just right and fitted correctly or not all the buttons will press the chip board correctly. However, after about 15 min of fussing with it and taking it apart twice, I was finally able to get everything aligned and all the buttons work perfectly. I don’t even notice it’s a replacement anymore. The button feedback is identical to the OEM part and I haven’t had a single issue with it in 2 months. Highly recommend. Just know it’ll take some messing with it to get it swapped oit ... show more

  • Not a perfect fit.
I had to hobble together the replacement parts with the original case to get it to work. When transplanting just the original electronics into the new case, the panic button frequently tripped without being pushed, or my car would tell me it couldn’t detect the key, or the remote engine start button wouldn’t work. I disassembled and reassembled several times, checking positioning and connections, and eventually got it to function normally by using only the faceplate from this replacement kit. The original key I received with the purchase of my used car had chipped buttons, the key ring part was broken off and missing, and there was a large crack in the back plate. The only thing this kit repaired were the chipped buttons. ... show more
