I cannot compare this to other saws of this style, but as a woodworking who mainly uses power tools and just needed a flush cut saw for occasional uses this works great. The handle feels good in my hand and is easy to cut through wood without marring the surface. Will it remain sharp and effective as long as a more expensive saw? Perhaps, though I wouldn't expect it to. For the low price, it's at minimum a good saw to try if you're just getting started. If you wear through it, you're out very little and it's a good sign you're actually going to use the saw enough to invest more into one. ... show more

I recently purchased this Japanese pull saw, and it’s quickly become a favorite tool in my workshop. The SK5 high-carbon steel blade is excellent—it’s flexible yet strong, allowing me to make clean, accurate cuts every time. I love the double-sided design with 11 TPI for rip cuts and 17 TPI for crosscuts, which makes it versatile for various projects. The non-slip beech handle with traditional Japanese patterns is not only beautiful but also provides a secure grip, even during longer cutting sessions. The saw is lightweight and easy to carry, which is perfect for taking it between different job sites or even just moving around the garage. It’s an excellent gift idea for anyone into woodworking, DIY, or carpentry. However, there are a couple of things that could be improved. The blade is quite thin, which is great for precision work but can feel a bit flimsy when cutting through harder woods. It’s also not the most durable saw for heavy-duty tasks, so I wouldn’t rely on it for larger projects that require more robust cutting tools. Additionally, the handle, while comfortable, feels a bit small, which might not be ideal for those with larger hands.
