    • Extremely midrange with no bass or treble notes
I was so happy to find these shallow depth In-ceiling speakers however, the sound they delivered was extremely midrange with no bass or treble notes and sounded defective. I connected Ci160TR speakers to the Denon receiver that would be powering them and compared them to bookshelf and tower speakers. I was told by Kef Support that they would have more bass when installed. I did not want to cut holes in my new kitchen ceiling only to find it was not true. So I cut a hole in a large cardboard box to test their claim of more bass when installed. There was no bass difference whatsoever. I was so disappointed by the sound that I ordered a set of shallow depth speakers from another vendor. The sound quality far exceeds that of the Kef speakers in both bass and treble and they are only 2 inches deep with a back-box. I had to repackage the Kef speakers and pay the return shipping cost.     • Not up to KEF quality. Very disappointing. I own them.
Purchased for very slim soffit in high rise apartment. Bought two pair purely based on KEF quality and personal experience with their smaller high-end bookshelf designs. Even with a box added to improve bass performance, they sounded like a tinny old all-in-one driver from a cheap manufacturer. We have them disconnected because they literally ruin the sound from a $600 pair of small Polk Audio primary speakers. Worst speaker purchase I've made. Owner of Dahlquist vintage towers, Canton, B&W, KEF and Mirage speakers. When installed right, you'll be sure you installed them wrong the moment you turn them on. Get the wireless Zeppelin from B&W.
