  • Brass is NOT Lightweight, but Feels So Good in my Hand
Style: Medium
I love my Brass Sport in a medium nib. I deal w/ an arthritic thumb and the weight of this brass spend is what I needed for this short writing instrument. It takes less effort to grip since the weight of the brass aids my writing comfort. I could like the hold to be a bit larger, but it's certainly satisfactory for my needs and wants. A person who wants a lightweight Kaweco Sport will do well to consider the aluminum version for a metal pen because the Brass Sport is heavier. But, that's the weight I wanted, and it's so easy to put in my jeans pocket and not worry about being damaged. It writes beautifully for me, and I have used numerous different ink brands, all of which flow well. It's important to clean it well when switching colors or brands, but I can imagine having it for the remainder of my earthly existence. The nice feature as well is that the nibs are replaceable/exchangeable since they are threaded into the hold. Very satisfied purchaser. ... show more

  • My second Kaweco fountain pen
Style: Medium
These pens are all I use for writing now. I love the feel, weight, and ink flow. The Aluminum version is better if you like a lighter pen, the brass one is great if you like it on the heavy side. I have been recommending them to everyone.

  • This is the best pen i have ever had - looks and performance
Style: Medium
I absolutely love vintage looking stuff which develops patina, brass and leather are my fav. This pen looks like a piece of art and after developing the patina looks even better. The writing is super smooth and the also the grip is comfortable. I just look for opportunities to pen down my thoughts more since I got this pen. It checks all the boxes - looks, performance, style and portability. ... show more

  • I love this pen!
Style: Medium
This pen is clearly very high quality (especially for the money). It feels heavy in the hand and writes great. A similarly priced Waterman feels plasticky and cheap compared to this pen, despite Waterman's advertising that their pen in this price range (the Waterman Expert) is constructed of metal. My only complaint about this pen is that it comes only with a blue ink cartridge. I can't speak for everyone, but it seems as though most people would prefer black, so why would Kaweco send their pen with only blue ink unless they're trying to force you to spend extra money? That aside, this is a great quality pen, and I doubt I'll ever need to buy another fountain pen. This pen feels extraordinarily solid and well-built, and I expect that it will last for a long time. Do yourself a favor and skip the "big name" luxury pen brands. Get a Kaweco. ... show more

  • A wonderful, weighty pen with a classic feel
Style: Medium
This is a gorgeous pen that I love writing with. I use it mostly for letter writing and note taking. Note that the weight listed by Amazon for the medium nib and other widths for that matter is incorrect. This is actually a 46g pen when posted (the cap is on) - not 21 as listed. The pen is too short to write unposted (without its cap on), but the balance is perfect with the cap on. A heavy pen is somewhat new for me, but I found that the heavier weight means I do not have to grip it as tightly and I adjusted very quickly. Also, the heavier weigh helps my penmanship. I opted to get a special ink (diamine sherwood green) which initially came out fast after filling, but after some writing, the pen produced clean, even lines. Very happy with this purchase. I love the feel of the brass in my hand. It feels like a classic, clean writing implement and I love the design. ... show more

  • Solid pen built to last, wrote well out of the box
Style: Medium
Kawecos are frequently a purchase of people newer to fountain pens, but I waited until I'd tried 50 others to buy this one based on a favorite YouTuber praising this pen, AdventureDenali. She bought it to use as an "outdoor" fountain pen that could withstand being dropped/scuffed in the outdoors and I thought that was a great idea, so I picked one up for that purpose hoping it wrote decently, but it surprised me by writing very nicely right out of the box. I got a Medium nib and it's very smooth and not overly wet or venturing into broad territory which is great for me. The nib is almost comically small compared to other fountain pens and many believe this makes for a sub-par writing experience but with this pen I don't think that's true, it writes as well as something 2-3x the price. The heft of the brass is pleasing and would make a great gift for a beginner or experienced fountain pen user. ... show more

  • Comparable to other German pens 5 times the price
Style: Medium
This is now my EDC pen. It is heavy brass and seemingly indestructible. I wear this pen both in my tweed jackets and waistcoats, and in my (off duty) daily carry satchel along with a brass compass, brass flashlight, and pipe smoking accessories. I have impressed the odd admirer by pronouncing its name in German ("Kaweco" is often mistaken for an Asian brand, but I soon set things straight). I customized this pen with a separate clip and separate gold plated broad nib from Kaweco, and a Kaweco leather pouch. To go completely insane, I will probably upgrade it yet further once the 14k gold nibs become available in North American at a reasonable price. There is no difference in writing quality between the "standard" nib and the "gold plated" nib I switched it with. It was a decision based purely on aesthetics. The pen wrote beautifully immediately after I loaded a Kaweco "Royal Blue" short cartridge into it, with no skipping. There is very little line variation, but this is my daily note making pen, and is utilized almost entirely for professional rather than artistic purposes. I own a number of German pens, including Montblancs and Pelikans, and this pen is comparable to a pen 5 times the price. I recommend it without reservation. ... show more
