Great coffee has a distinct aroma, followed by a clean rich taste, no after side effects like upset stomach or headache....this brand checks them all...only thing, I always use "double" the amount and extended brewing time to achieve my own preferred flavors/tastes....

I'm not one to only leave 1 star because I'm sure some people may like this coffee. The beans are in fact peaberry, and they are Dark Dark roasted. One time I dug up a bunch of dandy lion roots from my backyard, and broiled them in the oven until they charred black through and through. I attempted to use this as a herbal coffee alternative, but it was too dark and bitter. This peaberry coffee is so dark roasted, that it taist Exactly like the deep roasted dandy lion roots I dug up from my yard that day. There is a slight coffee smell left in the beans, they didn't manage to cook all the flavor out so therefore I decided to leave 2 stars instead of one. It is kinda like Folgers French toast, but with more burned dandy lion root aftertaist. I ended up dumping the beans into a cloth bag and soaking with it in a bath, the excess of tannins are very good for your skin. I ended up doing research on what coffee shop in my town has the best coffee, went over there and asked them for their lightest roasts. They gave me a bali, and an Ethiopian variety. Now that is some good coffee, they roasted it like that day. I recommend you doing the same. Look up someone local, try different kinds, ask for single origin. Trust me no matter where you live just drive to the city and hunt down your favorite variety, the quality will be there for a fraction of the price as this peaberry. And much fresher. If you want roasted dandy lion flavor with a hint of Folgers I recommend buying roasted dandy lion and Folgers, save your money. ... show more

    • Outstanding flavor and freshness for the price
I love this stuff... Always partial to Hawaiian coffee, I've tried pretty much every brand out there (including some small batch local stuff I found there on vacation that I've never seen on line) and this is one of my favorites. The Peaberry bean is pretty rare, and usually very expensive, so upon finding it in this price range I was initially suspicious. Nevertheless, I gave it a try and it surpassed all expectations... In fact, I liked it so much that I wound up ordering four more times, and expect to buy another pound when the current one runs out. So far it's had great consistency, flavor, and freshness across all four batches. I get the best brew from a triple screen French press with 205 degree water and a 5 1/2 minute steep time (did I mention that I'm a bit of a coffee snob?).     • Misrepresenting product
This item is supposed to be 100% peaberry. But the package I received is not at all 100%, maybe 1 in 3 can be called peaberry! I have bought a number of peaberry whole bean coffee before and they are all round small coffee beans. Very disappointed.

    • Great taste with missing aroma
The flavor is mild and buttery. I took away 1 star because even though the taste is great it's missing the aroma I'm used to with Kona coffee!
