The 3-position clamping system can be adjusted to fit nearly any size rod (0.15 to 1.0 inches in diameter) and tension bands can be adjusted to apply the ideal line tension during the spooling process.
  • NO LINE TWIST AND EASIY SPOOLING The Kalibrate tool simplifies spooling by allowing fishing line to come off the filler spool and onto the reel spool without any twist. Simply place the tension band on the line spool, mount it onto the tool, attach the line to the reel spool, and crank the handle to fill the reel with line. The maximum spool capacity is 3.5" wide by 4.5" diameter.

The KastKing Kalibrate Fishing Line Spooler and 5’’ Braid Scissors are the perfect fishing gift accessories for your fishing tackle box. KastKing Kalibrate is the only line spooling tool on the market which allows you to determine the exact amount of fishing line you are adding to your fishing reel. Cutting through braid and mono lines is a piece of cake for these 5” braided line cutters. 420 Stainless steel construction allows for ultimate corrosion resistance. The soft rubber handle also allows it to be stored or carried around easily. Our integrated line counter allows you to evenly split a spool of line between two reels for a more efficient and cost-effective use of your spool of fishing line. This counter also makes it very easy to add the ideal amount of backing to your spinning reels or braided Dacron to your fly reels. The Kalibrate fishing gear is designed to position the filler spool axis perpendicular to the rod for spooling casting reels. This orientation permits line to unroll from the filler spool and roll directly onto the casting reel spool without twisting the fishing line during the process. An integrated slide lock makes it easy to quickly adjust to large or small spools. For spinning reels, the filler spool axis is positioned parallel to the rod which allows the fishing line to un-coil from the filler spool and coil onto the spinning reel spool. This prevents the line from twisting as it is being spooled onto the spinning reel. The rod clamping system has 3 different settings so you can clamp rod blanks that range in size from 0.15 inches to 1.0 inches in diameter. I love this thing. It puts tension on the line. It removes the possibility of a twist. It's easy to use. It's fast. What's not to love???? I read several one star ratings, and I think they are to be ignored. If you put it on the rod properly (twsh), you cannot injure your rod. It should be quite loose. The line counter works as advertised, but it only goes up to 999', which really isn't that big of a deal. And you can to some extent adjust the tension if you play around with it. My only (one star worth) of complaint is that it doesn't hold larger spools. I have a standard spool which is 1000m and 4" across, and it doesn't fit on the holder. Pity given it would have only taken a tiny bit more plastic for them to be compatible... I've put on 1000 yards onto 2 reels now, and it was faster, simpler, better tensioned, and more uniform than any of the other 100 reels I've done. I'm very happy with it. ... show more

I can't speak to longevity as I just got the spooler. I can say that after reading the instructions through a couple of times it was easy to set up and get working. The only issues that I had were attaching the device to the rod can be awkward if you don't have a good place to lay the pole down while attaching it, but not really that difficult. The bands provided for tension worked really well, I was able to put enough tension on it that I had to adjust my drag to reel in the line on a Penn Battle III. And they are easy to adjust, both to tighten and to loosen. I had issues with the line counter right at first, with 20lb braid, .007", when I put the line in the slot it got underneath the metal guides very easily. It was a small pain to get it worked out from under them but then I stretched the line between my fingers and made sure it was centered in the slot and it worked with no issues. The scissors are not a selling point for this unit, they do not cut well and the handles are soft rubber on the outside and feel spongy when trying to use them. Love the spooler, has handled 4# mono up to 30# braid while I setup my gear for this weekend. But there are small cosmetic defects. The biggest that they never used the CASTING stamp. Instead it has SPINNING on the front and side. Not a huge deal if you’ve used one before. But that explains the 20% off… ... show more

    • Finally able to put the right amount of line on my real!

So for the past 35 years I have been guessing how much line I was putting on my pole. For the first time with this, I was able to see exactly how much line I put on. This is a great product that I wish I found a long time ago!! The only issue I have with it is at times, even though I did exactly what the directions say to do, it would not count up the feet. At first I would remove all the line that I had put on the real and start over but after a few times it happened I finally just guessed on those ones and got it working and added to it what I thought I had on my real. But when it works it is great! Would recommend to others!! ... show more

Before buying this product, we often encountered line twists and tangles, especially when re-spooling our spinning reels, and this was the reason we were looking to purchase a line spooler. The first reels we re-spooled with this product seem to be free of twists and tangles. We also appreciated that once the line spooler was set up on the rod, re-spooling the line was a single person job. The built-in line counter was handy in knowing how much goes on the reel, and can also be used to keep track of how much is left on the spool for future use. The line spooler is mostly made of plastic, but it still feels durable. We found the spool attachment screw to be a bit fiddly, and found that one brand of line did not work as smoothly because that fishing line brand had an additional notch in the center hole; it still worked, just needed some extra attention. The instruction sheet is well illustrated and has two sides, one set of instructions for casting reels and one for spinning reels. The instructions are fairly easy to follow, but there are numerous steps involved. Watching a video instruction would perhaps be more helpful for some folks. Overall, we are happy to have it and look forward to easier re-spooling jobs in the future. ... show more

It works well and allows me to spool my reels by myself and gives me a counter to put a consistent amount of backing on all my reels. It is not super smooth and different plastics could have been used for different pieces

I guess I'm just dumb. At first, I just did it just the way I thought it was supposed to be done. And it was a little hard to do. Then I watched the video that is on their ad. After that now I want more reels to wind. Boy it's a lot easier.
