  • Simple with room to spark imagination
I guess this is a classic based on the reaction this got from the adults who played with it as kids. I'm just starting my journey as a grandmother and am adding what I hope are great toys and games that will last. This is a simple wooden set of wooden blocks that can grow with kids. The more they grow, the more they can use their imagination to build structures. I need to see this in action with kids more to see how well loved they will be but I have a good feeling about them. I also got magna tiles and they are definitely a thumbs up. ... show more

  • Very Expensive, but Great for a certain type of builder
If your child likes to build using legos or other materials according to directions and has little interest in creative building, they may not appreciate this. The advantage to these pricey building blocks is in their uniformity. They are not warped and are cut very precisely so as to maximize stability in large structures. The larger the structure you create, the more detail you can incorporate. Think about a sketch of a bicycle that is drawn using nothing but identicle short straight lines. If only 10 lines are used, it may not look much like a bicycle, but if 100 lines are used, then it will be unmistakeable. Unlike sketching, in construction, balance is a factor, so for this reason, these blocks are a great tool for the developing engineering mind. I think they will be used differently as the kids hit different stages of their childhood, to demonstrate more advanced skills of creative design. ... show more

  • Kaplas are timeless joy
I have loved Kaplas since my granddaughter was 2. In other words, 25 years! I live in a neighborhood with several little kids and I bought another set because 200 is never enough!

  • One of, if not THE, best toys I've ever purchased.
It's late August and I first purchased a set of Kapla blocks at Christmas. I can say with certainty that this is one of the only toys to get regular play time 8 months later. I originally bought one box of 200 for my nieces & nephew and one box of 50 for myself. Once the other adult family members realized how fun and smart the blocks were, the collection grew to over 700! The kids are constantly trying new designs and building things with more precision...and when they walk away to do something else, the adults jump in and try their own designs! I can say with confidence that very few other toys have received as much play-time as these simple little wood blocks have. ... show more

  • Just okay.
Arrived in good condition and in a timely fashion. The blocks themselves are less impressive than I thought they would be. Very light and smooth. I was hoping for something a little more rugged. Definitely more for older kids because building fun stuff with these takes very steady hands, some strategy and patience. Each kid is different, but I think some younger kids would find this a it boring. I got these for my niece who's quite a good builder (4 yrs old) and she wasn't too taken with them. I think she missed the versatility of different shapes and sizes. This would be more fun for teens and adults to build complicated structures. Just my take. ... show more

  • Perfect gift
These blocks are perfect gift for kids who love to use their imagination while building. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because our box was opened and missing 1 block, and the guide book, and my kids couldn’t build the perfect 200 blocks tower!! Also couldn’t reach the seller...!

  • I think they are a perfect mind development tool
This item was purchased for a young man 12 years old. We weren't sure when we purchased it if he would be into blocks at his age. These "blocks" are apparently considerably more than blocks. He has learned how to build several structures he thought were intriguing and interesting. In addition, one older and one younger sibling are both using these blocks to build various interesting items. We'll probably add to these for a birthday or other occasion. I think they are a perfect mind development tool. ... show more

  • love this toy
Children, young and old, love this toy! It seems with just one size, shape and color (natural wood) of block, the children focus more on the idea, "What is something special that I can build?" There are no squabbles like, "I need the red ones." "I want the long ones!" It is also easy to add additions to this toy like pets, cars, people etc. ... show more
