  • Good looks
Style: V39
This is a beautiful compass Not to big not to small 2" x 2". Its very sensitive. Just right for my dash and very nice looking. The only very big problem was my truck has a high level of magnetism every where on the dash and I have no where to place it! I suggest that you check that out on your vehicle with another compass before you purchase a more expensive compass. I will keep this compass, maybe as a gift for someone. So now I am looking for a GPS compass which works from the satellite's, it will need a 12volt hookup. ... show more

  • Better than Basic
Style: V39
It works well, is a bit larger than I expected (and a bit smaller than I hoped). The four cardinal directions in bright green provide an important at-a-glance reference that is missing in the busy display in all-white. In other words they justify a slightly higher price. Very happy with this and would buy again. ... show more

  • Did not work
Style: V40
This compass absolutely did not work for me. It did not work in the car, it did not work in the house, it did not work on the lawn, it did not work in a box, it did not work with a fox. I do not like it Sam I Am. The KanPas “compass” that I received was, in point of fact, NOT a compass at all. Why? Because it proclaimed that I was *always* facing the same direction, no matter which direction I was actually facing. (The KanPas compass devoutly asserted that all directions would ever and always be SSE. Praise be to SSE. All glory to the eternal SSE. Thanks be to the almighty SSE. Amen.) A compass has *one* very simple job to do, which is to detect and respond to the Earth’s natural magnetic fields and clearly display that reaction thereby providing the user with a consistent sense of direction. If it performs this simple job, we can rightly call it a “compass.” Important Note: It is okay if the sense of direction provided by a compass is based on magnetic north rather than “true” north, so long as the compass consistently detects magnetic north. The floaty ball object I received did not do this. Executive Summary: The KanPas “compass” I received (by proclaiming ALL directions ever and always to be SSE) was not only an abject failure as a compass, it was, in actual fact, NOT a compass at all. Because of its inability to perform the one simple job of a compass (to detect and respond to the Earth’s natural magnetic fields and clearly display this reaction, thereby providing the user with a consistent sense of direction) the KanPas object I was sent, although labeled a “compass” by the company, was not, in fact, a compass. It was a floaty ball thing that *looked like* compass. Thank you for reading. ... show more

  • Car compass
Style: V39
Could not get compass to properly align from within the car. Works fine outside the car, but need some sort of shielding so the car’s metal doesn’t defeat its operation.

  • Hard to read as it’s a ball/marine compass.
Style: V39
It’s hard to really navigate with the way the ball is pointing. The direction you are headed is shown facing you. I have a hard time orientating my self with it. It looks cool though.

  • It works fine but you have to understand how to read it!
Style: V39
At first I thought as others, that this thing is 180 degrees off -- no matter how many times I moved it, the S was always at the north position. But actually that means it's working perfectly - you're supposed to position the little reading indicator opposite where you think it "should" be -- with the S at north position, put the indicator down opposite at the N. Then stick it on your car dashboard and the indicator will accurately show what direction you're going! Example: at my house, north is exactly at the front corner, so I line up all my compasses there. Usually, your compass indicator is put at north, and then as you move around hiking or whatever, the indicator changes and points to whatever direction you're going. Not this compass! With this one, the indicator goes opposite, (180 degrees). so when you put in on your dashboard and look at the indicator, the indicator is on north! That's why it seems like this compass is 180 degrees off, "pointing" opposite of where it "should" be. The indicator will tell you the correct direction you're driving :) ... show more
