HIGH-QUALITY AIRCRAFT-GRADE ALU DESIGN WITH MATTE BLACK EPIC LOOK I'm back with another review GEAR review! My last microphone was an old-school boom mic with a classic spring system, which needed more consistency and flow. The quality is phenomenal, heavy in a good way with aircraft-grade aluminum, and it's one of my favorite materials used on modern camera gear: matte black aircraft-grade ALU finish. This is your typical C clamp with a simple yet effective design that needs to be 1-3 inches long to accommodate newer desks. The reason is that there are many desks with a big lip on them; you have to go entirely underneath with the clamp. The c clamp is a screw style; the L clamp on the bottom is a better functional design, more TORQUE. The quality of CNC manufacturing is phenomenal, with a great feel and look to the poles. Where the low profile connects to the clamp, and people have mentioned this in the reviews: I'm CONFUSED why this doesn't disconnect or unscrew. There's a 3/8 or 1/4 screw where you can traditionally unscrew either for storage/traveling or attach a different poll for height. I took out the Allen wrench elbow bolt to see if I could unscrew 3/8, and I couldn't. I was baffled as to why they decided NOT to have this unmountable 99% of all other manufacturers, you can go up and down from left to right; rigid, in a good way; to adjust the Elbow's tautness, they include an Allen wrench; don't overtighten it because it will lock up! The microphone apparatus is made of brushed aluminum; companies will manufacture it as ABS plastic or resin; this is all-brushed aluminum. I need help figuring out (more confusion) that when you remove the 1/4 cover, it goes up and down a tad (will NOT disconnect) like a spring system. 90% of the time, this adapter will disconnect when installing your own, depending on the mic you use. They include a couple of adapters, and I'm thrilled to say they are made out of brush aluminum. It will take some time if you still need to get a low-profile mic with a learning curve. t will depend on where this is positioned on your desk, whether you have a square or round desk. Your microphone will create a different challenge based on your style position. My setup is a ZOOM H6 Stereo shotgun mic or Rode NTG; it can be a challenge based on my style of product reviews, shooting straight down 180. I'm happy with the overall design and build. I give it five stars. I took the proprietary pad off where it connects to the desk; if you look underneath, it's a 1/4 screw holding the base down; I cannot unscrew the 1/4 as a pivot. More confusion. PROS Excellent build quality. Brushed Aluminum CONS The arms' stiffness will take some time, and getting used to the new low-profile system will take some time. You must adjust the Allen wrench bolts. Longer clamp Others mentioned several of my challenges. For the price point, it's an excellent opportunity to take advantage of the new style with desk space.
