I read all of the reviews to see what the good and bad was. I am about a 33" waist. I got the large based on what people say and they fit very well. I don't have huge thighs. I'm 5'8' and weigh about 175 lbs. I was concerned about the tightness of the compression layer. I have some other shorts that are spandex underneath and they are just too tight. I wear them, but they are not the best.. These shorts are a lot better. When I put them on, I was really pleased with how the inner layer stays with your legs (they don't ride up), but it's also not tight around your legs. I think the material is perfect for what it's supposed to do. I bought mine on Aug 19, 2022. I wanted to try them out for a few weeks and wash them before I wrote a review. I have worn them at least 2 times per week. I only wear them to run in. I wash them every week. I do wear them 2 or 3 times in a row before washing sometimes because I can just hang them up and let them air out a little. I have not seen any wear or unraveling of the stitching. This was a concern I had, but no issue at all with these. I 100% recommend these. I agree with what others have said about size. They do run a little small, but the Large I got fit me well. I don't really think I would change anything about the size. I just ordered 2 more pair in red and white. I wanted to make sure they were good before buying more. The pair I originally bought was the black with black lining. I appreciate all of the other reviews. I think they were helpful and ultimately, convinced me to try these. I am very happy with these. These are pretty good gym shorts, but they're are a few things that would make them better (for me at least). Pros: - Nicely made aglets don't feel like they'll be lost or broken anytime soon. - Material and stitching feel well made - Breathable and true to size - Inner shorts pocket is plenty big enough to fit a large phone or wallet Cons: - Inseam could be higher to prevent chafing - Drawstring isn't secured in the waistband, so it can easily come out - Pointless headphone wire hole - External pockets are small. I wouldn't trust my phone in them, especially while running or squatting ... show more

I've got multiple pairs of compression shorts from other companies and the JWJs have the thinnest compression layer and loosest fit of any of them. In fact, the liner in these is so baggy it makes my phone bounce around in the inner compression pocket, which is a bummer - this isn't a problem I have with my Under Armour or Niksa compression shorts in the same size. They're still fine if you don't care much about active compression and if you don't plan to use the inner pocket for a phone, or if you buy them down a size, but as I'm 6'2" I don't want to end up with shorts any shorter than the size M i'm wearing. I'm going to mostly stick to my UA and other brand separate compression shorts with running shorts on top of them as a result, unfortunately, although I may break these out on days where I'm running with only my watch and no phone/wallet. ... show more

I'm a tall/big guy and shorts are always a sore spot for me, but thankfully these are the best shorts I've ever bought. Comfortable throughout the entire workout and fits flat to the skin. The pockets are excellent as well and my phone doesn't fall out unless I'm completely upside down.
