  • Quick & Easy Turkey/Mac
Flavor Name: Turkey & Macaroni Size: 4.02 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This review is long, long overdue. I've been feeding the turkey and mac blend to my oldest dog for over 5 years and my youngest for 2. They absolutely love it and devour it so quickly. Tried to switch back over to kibble to save some money and my oldest is so spoiled and is like, "What the heck is this?!?" Once you switch to real food, they never really wanna go back to kibble, so BEWARE. I can get this recipe cooked in less than 15 minutes on the stove and then another minute or 2 to add the fish oil and nutrients. The big tip here is to use a food processor/blender. This is how I get it all done, so skip to the next paragraph if you're not interested: I boil a pot of water and cook drain the pasta. When that's done, I cook the liver in another huge pot on the stove. I throw that in a food processor/blender when it's done and add the ground turkey to the same pot. While that's cooking, I weigh out and roughly chop up the broccoli, zucchini, and carrots and add those to the processor, along with the cranberries. Blend those real quick and add them to the ground turkey before it's fully cooked. I let that cook all the way through and then let it cool. I come back to everything like 15 minutes later to mix it in with the oil and nutrients and it's done. Easy peasy! I also have the measurements broken down according to different sized ground turkey packaging and stuck onto the fridge, because I buy whatever is cheapest that week, and sometimes it's a 1 lb container, sometimes it's 3lb, and the one from Costco is a little over 1.5lb, so it's easy to figure out how much of each ingredient needs to be added without having to bust out a calculator. The scent is noticeable, but it's not bad. I think the new packaging is better than the old tin, but I understand people wanting a hard paper copy of the directions. I saved my copy and refer to it whenever I feel like making a full recipe, which isn't very often. They did change the recipe at least once since I started using it 5 years ago, so it might be a good idea to see if anything's changed every few months/year. Overall, I think it's a good value for what you're paying. Yah you might be spending a lot more than you would on kibble, but it's nice to know you're feeding your dog good, healthy products when you're buying your ingredients yourself. ... show more

  • My Dogs Love it!
Flavor Name: Turkey & Macaroni Size: 4.02 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This item is a great flavor for the pups in your life. It's cheaper through Amazon than most pet stores I've found. It lasts through at least 30 lbs of food. I have 5 dogs, young and old. Their health has significantly improved by making their food at home. We use our recipe and add this to it and the pups I have that have teeth problems now are excited about eating and gobble their dinner up with this in it, no issues! ... show more

  • Huge deception
Flavor Name: Chicken & White Rice Size: 7.93 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I bought several if these before seeing salt as 4 th ingredient with no indication how many milligrams and note they always give you protein ect but not sodium. They put salt in all dog foods now including toppers and many treats! Go look up salt toxicity in dogs!!!! I was told 9 years ago not to salt my dogs food by reliable vet nutritionist in houston texas. A well know animal hospital for animals!!!!!!! If you feed this with dry dog food you will kill your dog probably within a year. A small dog even faster ... show more

  • Great for homemade dog food!
Flavor Name: Turkey & Macaroni Size: 4.02 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I finally made the switch to making homemade dog food after years of giving my 3 kibble. What a difference it has made! They don't drink as much water (2 of mine throw up if they drink too much) because there is so much moisture in their food. Also, their farts are nearly undetectable. Before they would clear a room lol. Their health in general has done a complete 180. I poured it into a plastic container because I order more than one at a time but it's also easier to dish out in a container rather than a bag. I can't afford to do raw so this was the next best thing! Stop thinking about it and order this nutrient blend to add to homecooked meals! ... show more

  • Expensive experiment
Flavor Name: Fish & Sweet Potato Size: 5.92 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I purchased this after much debate in a desperate attempt to find something my Aussiedoodle would eat. I appreciate the company's support of We Rate Dogs, so I thought I would give it a try. In hindsight, I should have bought a few premade meals to try first. I went all in and made a full batch because if it was a hit, I knew my work schedule would make prepping again rough. I chose the Fish because he's still a puppy and that's what their website recommended. I also have a 13 year old miniature poodle and I was excited to be able to feed him the same thing. Well, a small fortune in fresh ingredients later, I now have a huge batch of food that neither dog wants to eat. They both sniff it, reluctantly take a bite or two, check the other dogs bowl to see if he has something better and then walk away. The recipe is good. I tried it (before mixing in the supplements and oil) and it was delicious. However these two puppies seem to disagree and are now pouting and looking at me like I have committed a hate crime. My advice to you if you decide to try it, buy it packaged first to test it. They have it at Petco if one of their kitchens isn't near you. I love the concept of the DIY kit, so you can make sure your pup can get everything they need out of the food. Unfortunately for us, it was a huge waste of money and premium ingredients. ... show more

  • Used to be 5-star, but new packing is a big downgrade..
Flavor Name: Fish & Sweet Potato Size: 5.92 Ounce (Pack of 1)
The new packaging is definitely a big downgrade from what it was. It does not seal closed very well and ended up spilling on my counter when I first opened it due to the contents shifting around during shipping. I used to think out this as a 5-star product, but the downgrade in packaging makes me wonder where else cut corners to make more money. ... show more
