    • Great as a toy for kids or for beginners to learn on
I've wanted a drone for a long time but didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on an expensive one with a camera before I tried flying one. This drone is perfect for that and I think would also be a cool toy for kids. In this review, I'll focus on why the drone was great for me as a beginner and someone who was intimidated by the idea of piloting a drone. I don't have the knowledge or experience to detail all its features or compare it to other drones on the market. The drone has two main parts: the 9"-diameter drone with four rotors and the roughly 4" x 3.5" controller. Each has an on-off switch and you pair them (very easy) before each flight. The main controls on the drone are two joysticks, the one on the left for altitude and the one on the right for direction. The other main control I use is the landing/take-off button, which gives you a smoother landing. There are cool lights on the drone. Everything is plastic but it's nicely made and robust. Set-up was easy. You charge the two rechargeable batteries with a standard 5V charger you use for smart phones and similar items using the included USB-A cable. Then you insert two AAA batteries (not included) in the battery compartment using the included Philips head screwdriver to remove the one screw on the battery compartment door. Finally, you snap on four protectors to protect the rotors in the event of a crash. (Four replacement rotors are also included.) To fly the drone (once you've turned the drone and controller on and paired them), you hit the take-off button to lift the drone about a foot off the ground and then use the left joystick to control elevation (forward (away from you) is up and backward is down) and push the right joystick to maneuver horizontally in all directions. The drone is responsive and easy to fly though controlling it skillfully requires a bit of practice. If you use it indoors, as I did, you may crash it into the walls. The good news is that the protectors protect the rotors from damage and the drone survived all the impacts with the walls and falling to the ground. In the worst aerial disaster, it turned itself off and I had to restart it. (The reason I had so many accidents is that I played around with the trim button, which changed the orientation of the drone relative to the controller, so pushing the joystick forward actually moved the drone to the right and I couldn't figure out which way it was going to fly.) The crashes didn't leave any marks on our white walls. There are eight other control buttons on the drone for things like speed, flip, and return to home.     • Really impressed with the durability and stability
First off, I need to divulge that I have many drones, from tiny whoop FPVs to expensive professional camera drones. I also have grandchildren, which in turn requires that I look for an inexpensive "starter" drone that can tolerate being crashed many times, has a decent battery life, and holds stable in the air when the sticks are back to center. I don't care about flips or any other gimmickry, I am just wanting the young pilot to gain skill and confidence (mostly mine) before flying the more dangerous and expensive type. They also need to have fun. Right away I was impressed with this item. The folding arms not only gives the young pilot a sense of "big kid drones", but also makes it easier on the drone during impact, as the arms tend to give a little, potentially saving some props. Each prop are of the 2-piece type, much like the bigger ones, and fold together when not flying. Each side of the prop is held onto the motor hub with a tiny screw. I also liked that it has 2 batteries and a standard USB-micro charging port, allowing for charging multiple batteries at once instead of the tiny propriety chargers that the others come with. It takes about 45 minutes to charge a battery, and my stopwatch showed about an 8 minute flight, which is better than my Tello gets (maybe 4-5?). But of course there isn't a camera or optical flow to suck up the battery. The flight is extremely stable (important to mention that there is a compass/gyro stabilizing step at startup), and using the trim buttons on the remote fine tuned it down to what I would call a nearly perfect hover. Of course over time the trims drifted a bit, but that's really not noticeable when actually flying around, only when hovering. So far I have crashed it more than a few times, all indoor against walls/lamps, and it is still in one piece with no broken parts. The prop cages are only partial, but they fit real tight around the motors, protecting the props and anything that gets in the way, and stay in place nicely. I would recommend this as a 1st starter drone for 6 year olds ( under supervision) and up, including adults. After the freshman pilot masters this, I think a tello or even a sub-250g camera drone would be the next step, depending on age. It is the best starter drone that I have seen yet. ... show more

    • Neat little drone
This is a fun drone to play with. Does a flip with the press of a button. It doesnt hold up in the wind so well so youre kind of stuck to playing with it indoors. Other than that, ive enjoyed having it. Would recommend.

I love the drone. It’s durable and inexpensive. It has a good distance and it’s easy to control. The only bad thing is that the battery doesn’t last long. This does make a great gift for kids
