My daughter really likes using this Dance Mat. After looking at others online, she liked that this one didn't have the "childish" characters on it like some other models did (she's 8 going on 9 and now thinks that unicorns are no longer cool too, lol). I also liked that it wasn't too cartoonish like others I saw online, in case we ever broke this out for adults to play with too. It is made of waterproof vinyl material that is both durable and easy to wipe clean. My daughter uses this more when the weather isn't nice, and it's great to help her burn off extra energy inside of the house, instead of her bouncing on our living room furniture or her bed like they're trampolines. The dance mat is perfect for one child playing on it, but it's a bit small for more than one child or even for one adult, if that adult has larger feet. So I do wish it was a little bit bigger, but that probably wouldn't make it as easy to fold up and take places or store. It's definitely made for tiny feet and not adult feet, in my opinion, but it's still fun for adults to try and play. The pictures provided online with the product are a bit deceiving where it shows both an adult and a child comfortably fitting and dancing on the mat (photoshopped like many are), so make sure to look at the measurements of the product closely. But it was perfect just for my daughter to dance on and she loved it. It was very easy for her to use all on her own. There are a variety of different pre-set game levels to use, or you can hook it up to your phone via Bluetooth and play your own songs, which my daughter loved. The volume can definitely get loud on it, so it's nice that it's adjustable. The quality, accuracy, and timing of the pad seems good, and it would make a great gift too. But batteries are not included with the product (I didn't expect them to be since the product description says that batteries are not included, but I just wanted to mention it on here in case anyone missed that), so make sure to have 4 AA batteries on hand when this arrives, so your kids (and you) can start playing with it right away. At this price point ($59.99 minus $10 coupon = $49.99 at the time of this review), I feel that it is a reasonable price for a durable product that will provide hours of fun and exercise for my daughter and her friends. ... show more

In the universe of kiddie toys, I thought I'd seen it all. But when I stumbled upon the "Jazzy Jamboree Dance Mat," it was as if someone had remixed Santa's workshop with a sprinkle of Studio 54. The mat arrived in a psychedelic box that screamed '70s dance floor but in a charming, age-appropriate way. It promised an electronic dance experience for 3-12 year olds, a range I initially found slightly ambitious. Can a toy provide the same level of exhilaration for a wide-eyed toddler as for a nearly-teen, armed with a nuanced appreciation of rhythm and Bluetooth capability? I must admit, dear reader, I had my doubts. The first challenge was setup, but thankfully, my Ph.D. in Toy Assembly wasn't necessary. The younger judges took to the lights, music, and interactive play like fish to water, while the older ones relished the novelty of orchestrating their own dance-off with the variable modes and levels. I purchased this item for my daughters birthday, and when we got it, she was so excited. When we started using it, we noticed that it was very sensitive to any of the buttons pressed you had to look down the entire time to use the mat. It was very frustrating to my daughter, and overall, I ended up returning it and buying a new one that connected with the TV. I would say that if you’re looking for something to just have a bit of fun, then perhaps you should purchase this but if you’re looking for your kids to actually be able to complete activities on the mat it’s probably not what you should purchase . ... show more

I work with adults with special needs. Dancing is one of their favorite things to do on breaks. I thought this would be fun for the more physically advanced folks. I have looked at these mats several times but never got one because most of them have cartoon characters or simply look childlike, which is something we try to avoid when purchasing for our adults, even if they have developmental delays. Easy enough to set up. It does take batteries. I had a little trouble connecting the Bluetooth. Once connected, the music sometimes seems muffled. The pace is also too quick for most of my special friends, which is not necessarily a problem with the item but it is something to keep in mind, depending on who you are ordering for. ... show more
