To me, ultrasonic cleaners are all about functionality. This one scores good marks from me because the fit and finish is good, there is a clear marking on the inside of the tub that shows the max fill line, the parts holder is a good quality plastic, it allows you to choose the amount of time you want to perform the cleaning operation, and most importantly, it works. You can actually see the items moving around within the water bath as the unit operates. As far as how good it cleans, well, that depends on how dirty the item is you are cleaning. everyday wear jewelry such as my wife's diamond ring, sparkles up very nicely with just water; however, 30 year old foreign coins that I acquired when I served oversees in the military, had a strongly adhered layer of grime on them and required a "detergent" and several cleanings to finally come clean...which was to be expected as dirty as they were. In case you are wondering, the recipe for the "detergent" solution I used was found online and is: 1 part vinegar, 4 parts water, 1 tablespoon dish washing liquid soap (eg. Dawn).     • A bit too expensive, but it actually works!
I don't often have the time to give my jewelry a thorough cleaning, which may be part of why my ears frequently get infected after I wear certain pairs of earrings. Add a little cleaning solution to the water, throw your jewelry in, and turn on the machine. With a variety of timed modes, it will do its job and get your jewelry clean. I feel like a tarnished pair of gold earrings I can't bring myself to discard came out of the machine a little shinier, but that may be wishful thinking. My ear piercings aren't getting infected as frequently, but it does still happen. That may indicate a problem with me. Also, it claims to be able to clean fountain pens as well as jewelry and I'm surprised to say it really can! I gave my stopped up pen nubs three washes and then sat the nubs upright on a trash rag to soak up the remaining ink/water mixture inside. Now the pens work like they're brand-new again! ... show more

This is absolutely amazing! I can't believe I didn't know about this earlier! I resale electronics, and always have to manually scrub products in order to clean them. With this, I literally just put them in, and they were clean in a couple of rounds. Granted, it takes longer, but I prefer that over having to get my hands dirty. The container where you put the jewelry seems a little cheap, and the cleaner occasionally powers off randomly. Other than that, this is an absolutely amazing product, and I can't believe that it's so cheap! Will be using this for cleaning from now on. ... show more

I love how easy to use this ultrasonic cleaner is. There are only 2 buttons on it for operation - power and timer. By selecting "timer" you cycle the different times the cleaner runs in seconds. The power button will start the cleaner once you have selected the running time. This cleaner holds many items at a time - it's quite roomy. I also really like that the top or cover is see-thru so you can see or watch your items clean in real time. I was expecting the device to be loud but when you have the cover on it's not loud at all. It's done a good job at cleaning items for me and I can tell by the dirty water left behind after I remove my items. There's nothing I can say I dislike about this ultrasonic cleaner. ... show more

    • It's 35W, not 50W, and it failed at 32 days use.
Title says it all. This is advertised as a 50W cleaner. If that's important, then you should know it says in the manual, on the box, and on the unit itself that it is 35W. And it's made in China. It still worked well, cleaning even old hidden stuff off my night guard. But on day 32, it stopped working. Amazon was good enough to take it back anyway. I had always seen ultrasonic cleaners advertised and always wondered how well the worked. Well, having gotten one, I am sold!!! This cleaner is easy to use. Fill with water. Put your item to be cleaned in (there is a tray to make it easier for smaller objects and jewelry), select the time and push start. On my first item, a small pruning shears, it took the accumulated dirt and dried plant juice accumulation right off. This cleaner is fantastic for my garden tools. For the tougher build up, I need to add some soap. It works very well on glasses, jewelry, coins, etc. It is a fantastic cleaning tool!! ... show more

**Edited** Upon further experimentation I found that my problem was a poor quality cleaning fluid. I bought a brand recommended by my local jeweler and have had much greater luck. It still doesn't compare with the commercial unit that I have used in the past but it does indeed work.

I place the water in it but it never cleaned the jewelry like I thought it would. I put it in the receptacle five times but the pieces just came out wet.
