The younger generation probably doesn't recall the singer Taco and his song: "Dressed up like a million-dollar trouper, Trying hard to look like Gary Cooper (super duper). If you're blue and you don't know where to go to, Why don't you go where fashion sits? Puttin' on the Ritz." This song has stuck in my head since childhood. So when I came across a diffuser set inspired by the Ritz-Carlton in my online searches, even though I've never stayed there, I wanted to experience its scent. The product arrived in a large, hefty box, at least twice the size of a regular diffuser box. The substantial dark bottle added extra charm and a sense of elegance, while the included five sticks, one white and four black, brought a touch of unique design to the set. I had read reviews mentioning that the scent wasn't strong enough, and indeed, it is subtly discernible. However, the faint fragrance adds an intriguing touch of richness and charm to the emitted aroma. This diffuser can enhance any living room or bedroom, but initially, I decided to place it in the bathroom – a more enclosed and narrow space where the scent doesn't dissipate as quickly in a larger volume but can concentrate in a smaller area. I want to convey that this scent truly imparts a sense of luxury, opulence, and sophistication to the room. If you want to feel like Gary Cooper (though the younger generation might not remember who that is), give this fragrance a chance. ... show more

They smell pretty good and look attractive in my water closets. They only come with five reeds, and if you want more noticeable fragrance, the only way to get it is to add reeds which, by the way, you can purchase on Amazon!

I knew as soon as I saw the box, that this Shangri-La Reed diffuser set would be a high-end, quality product. At a large 6.76 ounces (200 ml), the bottle of fragrance oil, which very much resembles a bottle of cologne or perfume, appeals to my more extravagant senses. I was intrigued by the recreation of Jcloud's hotel-style scents, and I selected the Shangri-La, as it has earthier base notes to it, which I prefer, such as bergamot, sandalwood and amber, than the others. With a definite aromatherapy flair to the fragrance, there is a subtle hint of a spa-like soapy/sudsy overtone to it that it gives it its hotel moniker. I could envision smelling this fragrance in a luxury hotel powder room or lounge. With that said, there are a total of five reeds (four black and one white) that are 10 inches long. It takes a few days for the reeds to absorb the oils, so it is advisable to rotate them by taking them out, turning them upside down, and then re-inserting them into the bottle at least a couple times a day. The scent is pleasant and fragrant without being overpowering. It doesn't have a lot of 'throw' to it, so placing it in an area that has ventilation (such as an overhead fan), helps disperse the aroma more quickly and evenly, than by standstill. There are a number of warning disclaimers on the box worth noting, such as oil flammability, and keeping away from direct contact with heat or skin. It is also recommended to wipe up immediately in the event of a spill. Overall, this is a quality product in a retail box that is ideal for gifting. Recommended. ... show more

This is not my first diffuser set, I loved my last one that put off a nice vanilla scent in my bathroom. So when I saw that this diffuser's scent is inspired by the Shangri-La hotels (which smell delicious and clean), I thought I would give this one a try. It's a pretty, gray glass bottle and the 5 reeds are black and white. The scent in the bottle is nice (right under my nose), and it is similar to the hotel's scent, but after 2 weeks of having the diffuser open in the bathroom, I still cannot smell anything. I recently asked my parents who visited last week if they could smell anything in the bathroom; they said what I thought: no. Disappointed. I may try different reeds, but I thought that was the whole point with buying a set, is to be ready to go right out of the box? ... show more

This smells really good, but idk if it's nose-blindness, weak aroma, or the size of the room it's in... I just don't smell it much unless I get really close to it. Kind of a bummer. I've never used reed diffusers to scent a room before, so I couldn't say if this is normal? I have always wanted a diffuser with a scent that the upscale hotels use. This definitely does not disappoint. It looks so sleek and the smell is rich (literally). It is a great size and I love that it's a thick charcoal frosted glass and black and white scent sticks because it adds to the upscale, luxurious look. This reed diffuser set smells great! I don’t go to too many fancy hotels very often, so I can’t say for certain that the scent is “inspired” by the fancy hotels or not, but it does smell fancy to my nose. The bottle looks very fancy and does give the sense of luxury. The only problem I have is that it kind of loses some of its potency after a while.
