Should I Buy It?

Despite some critiques about the build quality and occasional technical issues, the high sound quality, comfort, noise cancellation, and customization offered by the JBL headphones seem to hold great appeal to many customers. The product would be especially worth considering if you desire a set with exceptional sound performance and plan to use it within a relatively calm and careful environment. However, if you're looking for a highly durable headset that can withstand more rigorous conditions, you might want to explore additional options.

  • Great Sound, Noise Cancellation
They are great at what they do… improving sound, canceling outside noise, good weight on them, color lights on the ear muffs are a plus! If I had choose one negative thing about them is that I found them to be a bit hot around the ears but that’s understandable since I used them for a good length of time and the leather on the ear muffs are meant to cancel outside noise. Other than that, they are great! ... show more

  • JBL over the ear headphones
Sounds quality is excellent, feels comfortable over the ear. Priced at 299, which was a bit to rich for me, I found a refurb'd one for less than half price so I bought it.

  • Not bad
Comfortable fit. Great to have options of USB or 3.5mm jack. There is a slight rattle now from the right ear piece so the quality may not be up to snuff.

  • Great sounding headset, Poor/cheap quality plastic
GOOD: I have owned a few headsets I have used for gaming and this headset by far has sounded the best! I think the calibration that you go through maybe what set it apart sound wise or maybe JBL just has better speakers. Some games felt totally different with the spatial sound and head tracking on top of the calibrated sound. Ear cup shape and depth was perfect! Maybe the best fit I can recall for a headset in that respect. Also, the ear cups did a great job of dampening any sound outside the headset. The USB cable has a mixer dial in place of the standard volume/mute functions seen on most corded headsets. How this works is the headset creates two devices in Windows. They are called JBL Quantum One* Chat and JBL Quantum One* Game. So for your voice chat program like Discord or Teamspeak you set it to use the JBL Quantum One* Chat and then set your games to use the JBL Quantum One* Game. Once those are set you can then use the mixer to lower or raise the volume of one or the other. Turn to the left to raise game volume while decreasing voice chat or the opposite if you wish to hear your squaddies a little louder. BAD: Sometimes getting these to work was a chore. Sometimes even though Windows recognized they were connected and set to be the default I would not get any sound. Sometimes disconnecting the USB-C cable from the headphones and waiting a few seconds before plugging it back in would work. More often though I would have to unplug the headset, reboot windows, log in, and then reconnect the headset and then it was fine until I shutdown my PC. The plastic pieces that hold the earpieces to the headband are cheap plastic. Both sides have cracks in them in less than a week's time. Maybe they were there before and I did not see them; one is not visible until you go to don the headset. I think JBL needs to do some redesign of these. For a MSRP of ~$300 it should be a durable headset with metal hinges and maybe a metal band. The hinges, in my experience, are usually the weak spot and need to be reinforced or made with more durable materials than plastic. CONCLUSION: Great sounding headset. The voice chat/game sound mixer on the USB cable was a very cool feature. Spatial sound and head tracking was cool. Maybe people with smaller heads will not break the swivel pieces as quickly. Frame materials feel cheap and not made for gamer use. For a headset on the higher end of prices I think most would expect some more durability out of the frame. ... show more

  • Worth the money, very happy for this purchase.
This headset is miles ahead of the Hyper X Cloud II worth the extra money. The sound is incredible for gaming, music, and videos. The program used to customize the sound is very easy to use and made calibrating the headphones a lot easier.

  • Great for a short time
Worked great to start, but now it craps out constantly and is an absolute headache. It just stops working about every half hour. Even when the software actually works for any length of time, the hardware is now failing. Connections have loosened up and this headset just doesn’t stay plugged in anymore. When the cord jiggles out of the earpiece due to me shifting in my seat, I have to unplug the setup from my computer to get it working again. Less than 8 months after purchase I am back shopping for another headset… it won’t be a JBL. Definitely not worth the money. ... show more

  • Not a good headset
I hate to say this because JBL is usually a good company, but this headset has been nothing but trouble since the day I got it. Every single time I play online, it is a struggle to get the voice settings to work and when it does I have been told it sounds like I’m yelling from far away. I basically have to swallow the mic for someone to hear me at normal volume. Also there is an annoying buzzing noise that I finally figured out how to turn off after months of dealing with it, oddly enough it’s the light settings, just turn off the lights. This was not a good buy. ... show more
