JBL Premium 6.5-Inch Component Speaker System - Set of 2 JBL engineers designed the GTO 609C component speaker to produce strong, clear sound from a head-unit or amplifier capable of delivering up to 270 watts of power. This makes the GTO 609C an ideal match to systems powered with head-unit or factory-amplifier power levels. Even better, the speaker matches many of the GTO Series amplifier combinations. As a result, it can keep up with systems that feature one or more subwoofers and satisfy high-fidelity audiophile listeners. And its great power-handling specifications also increase reliability over the lifetime of the speaker. The GTO 609C’s Plus One carbon- injected cones provide more overall speaker-cone area than other cones in its class. With an effective increase in cone area, the speaker radiates more air. Also, its carbon-injected cone material produces a lighter and stiffer cone. The result is a better low-frequency response and a greater ability to make those important musical notes that people often associate with larger speaker sizes.

Sounds great all around. Powered up with an Alpine ilx-w670 and a Stinger 600.4 1000 watt amp at 90 watts. They handle the power sound clean at high volume, they don’t dissatisfied.

Really good sounding speakers for the price. Even when running on the stock head unit they have good bass and clarity. So much better than stock speakers. On a second note, they were a PITA to install in my 2016 Corolla. Crossovers are on the big side and there was no room in the door to mount them without interfering with something. Ended up wrapping them with foam tape and sandwiching them in the bottom of the door behind the woofer. Works but not ideal. Also none of the tweeter mounting adapters would work in stock configuration. Had to drill the tweeter grills out on the sail panel. Turned out great but a lot of work. If I had to do it over I would have bought the coaxial version of these. ... show more

I've been using JBL speakers since the mid-1990s, and they are always excellent, in the design quality and sound quality. At first I was wary of the plastic frame on the mids, but after installing them in my 2015 Civic LX with the Metra adapter kit, I had no issues. My car didn't originally have tweeters in the A-pillars. I bought the A-pillar trims with the tweeter holes from Honda and built custom mounts out of ABS plastic to attach the tweeters to on the back of them. These tweeters are the perfect size for the factory cutouts for this car, no cutting of the factory trim required. I put the crossovers in the bottom of the doors, wrapped in some foam to keep them from rattling. These speakers sound great! It's a night-and-day sound quality difference from the stock speakers! ... show more

These replaced factory speakers on a 2020 Mercedes Sprinter and fit fairly well requiring only minor modification to achieve a nearly perfect fit. My expectation was that the improvement over the factor speakers would be moderate. I was pleasantly surprised because these are a significant improvement. I have tried a lot of speakers over the decades and these are up near the top of all the ones I've had. One thing that impressed me was the midbass on these exceeds everything I've had before. I have them crossed over with HPF at 80hz and driving them with a JL Audio 300/40 giving them 75w rms of clean power. They sound great and musical around the 30-40w range. I'd have to turn down the midbass a bit or increase the HPF to 120hz to push them harder as they will loose linearity with all the midbass at high wattage. I did a layer of sound deadening on the outer door skin (inside the door), and a second layer under the door card covering every hole that opens into the insides of the door and window regulator area. Then I added a foam mid-bass reverb pad behind the speaker, and finally the foam seal around the speaker itself to direct all the mid-bass into the cap through the door card. I believe this helped significantly in increasing the mid-bass and overall sound quality. ... show more
