This speaker is well built and surprisingly loud with good sound quality. The included case fits well and has space to store the power cord. Battery life is outstanding. I needed something to drown out the maddening din emanating from my neighbors' back yard. There are at least 6 children in this family who can only communicate by screaming at all hours of the day and night. Between the incessant shrieking and the loud metallic groans of rusty trampoline springs, I was convinced I was living next to the daycare in Dante's Seventh Circle of hell. To be upfront we own the following JBL products Charge 2+ Flip 4 Charge 4 Party box 100’s My Partybox 100’ are amazing but a lot less portable than I had originally planned. My battery died on my Charge 2+ so I can only use it plugged in. I first ordered a Flip 4 on Amazon deal because it appeared about the same size as my Charge 2+ The highs are more detailed on the Flip 4 however it is too bright for my style and location and Missing that bass from the Charge 2+ The Charge 2+ overall sound quality is fantastic! So I ordered the Charge 4 to be really impressed with the larger, more powerful design. I was very disappointed! Yes it has more bass but it should. The highs were not crips and clean like the flip 4 or Charge 2+, the midrange vocals are strong with this but overall sound quality is muddy for me, playing all 3 side by side with different music categories. I decided to send back the Charge 4 and keep the Flip 4 for my wife for the beach and buy a battery off Amazon for the charge 2+ For me to haul around to the patio or garage quick. Other note The Flip 4 is terrific for exceptional musical detail at a quiet setting (office) or loud open air setting (like the beach) the music detail carries far with out being overly disruptive, just don’t expect that bass like the charge and above models Some say the Charge 3 is the one to get, but for me I’m satisfied at the moment and will wait for future Charge Models or equivalent models to come out. ... show more

We are a really old couple. We have problems with technology ALL THE TIME! I have a number of Bluetooth items in our home and connecting them to our wifi network is ALWAYS a problem. UNTIL NOW! Our JBL Charge 4 is the simplest speaker or our device I've ever owned to connect to the network! It works the first-time EVERY TIME! Turn it on and it makes an audible drumbeat, open your phone or iPad's Bluetooth window, touch JBL Charge 4, and the speaker plays an open Spanish guitar chord, and you have music! It's so good I bought more of them for my adult children! It's a bargain! Why? Because it works and sound great ... show more

So I had a Megaboom BT speaker that was destroyed when rolling into the street. I figured I spend a little more money for a louder speaker. But this speaker is not any louder or carried any better bass. Sounds good and I use this at the work, and will use at the beach. I also used my other speaker for training with boxing app. Bell sound is not as crisp on JBL. If you know what I mean then you know. FYI Megaboom is the speaker you want for that bell sound and 50, 60s music ... show more

    • Get the charge 3 for more features and less money

My mom has the charge 3 so when I was purchasing my speaker I figured I get the newer version with what I assumed would have standard bluetooth features like SPEAKERPHONE. Technically this was my fault for assuming the next gen would have speaker phone capabilities, I didn't research this beforehand. But why would they make it without this very basic and standard feature? Also the charge 3 and 4 won't connect to each other. There is a battery bank feature (meaning you can charge other devices to it as a power source) which to me isn't impressive I would rather much have speakerphone capabilities and connectivity to other models. For more money and it to be the next generation model its technically a downgrade. Sound quality is great, battery is decent. But eh, its too late for me to get my money back. ... show more

The speaker arrived quickly in perfect condition inside a very nice box / package. I’ve only used the speaker briefly. It quickly connected with blue tooth. The overall size is nice, and not too heavy. So far it sounds good. I plan to use it for my workouts in my apartment.
