    • A decent sounding earbud, but,,,,
So after 5 years of service with my Plantronics Backbeats oh, they have seen better days. Plus I also use them outside a lot with noisy outdoor equipment so I wanted to find something that has more noise isolation. So researching many sites I decided to go with these. Being very picky about sound quality, I often compare to my 1more triple drivers.( great wired earbud with very good sound at a very reasonable). First, the jaybirds come with three sets of silicone ear tips and three sets of foam tips with three sets of different sized ear fins. First impression was bass was very weak and sound was so so. Quickly found out that if you want a stronger base and a good noise isolation seal you must use the phone tips. Definitely made the sound quality better. I recommend ordering some comply foam tips. They will be higher quality than the ones included. That being said the ones that are included are sufficient increase the bass and noise isolation. Cord is long, maybe a little longer than necessary, but comes with clips to adjust the size. Build quality is going to be a question mark over the Long Haul. One of the biggest complaints I saw in previous reviews was build quality. Will update later if this is an issue. Battery life seems to be on par with their claimed 10 hours. Was that the gym for two and was about 80% after that. Seems to be on par. After lots of tweaking, in my opinion these are a very decent sounding Bluetooth set of earbuds. Now for my 2 big gripes. Getting the sound just right for your own taste takes a lot of fiddling. Again tips make a difference but Jaybird buds come with their own app, which has different sound of options as well as an equalizer you can set to your own taste. I think that the equalizer is horrible. You really have to play around with it. The thing that is not good about their equalizer is when adjusting different Hz levels it decreases the other sound levels. Very hard to get just right. You might be better off just using a better music app such as Power Amp, which has an equalizer that is outstanding and foregoing the Jaybird app. My next gripe is the charger. Jaybird uses a special charger that you must clip onto the controller to charge. Can't use a simple micro USB charger. If you lose this dongle, you'll have to buy another one or you're screwed. This means you must drag it around with you wherever you go. Reading jaybird's explanation was by not having an open micro USB port, dirt and grime can't get into it. Plantronics uses a micro USB port and puts a door on it which can be slid out and use a standard MICRO-USB. Never had any problem with the one on the Plantronics. Just saying I think Jaybird could take a lesson here. Overall, after making lots of adjustments these are a pretty decent sounding earbud. Only time will tell how the build quality is. Considering the price, it's worth strong consideration. I'm going to give it four out of five stars for now. I would have taken off an extra half a star just because I had to fiddle with it so much to get a sound that I wanted and the charger. ... show more

    • Love Jaybird, but won't by their products again...
I've gone through a few pairs of Jaybird products throughout the past few years and while I really enjoy the products, I won't be purchasing another product from them. Frustration #1: the charging clip. The charging clip is such a garbage idea it's incredible it got through user testing. For the X3, the charging clip is about half an inch by half an inch, easily pops off all the time, and is easily lost. None of the Jaybird products come with a replacement charging clip either so be prepared to have to purchase another one or two during your time of use. #2: The sound cuts in and out quite often which gets really annoying when you're in the middle of a good workout. #3: The product is very hard to reset when someone does go wrong with it. While the basic usability of the product is quite simple, if you ever have to reset the product for any reason, good luck and godspeed. For roughly $100, the X3 isn't terrible for what you get to be completely honest. But it could easily be done better without much added cost to Jaybird as a company. The garbage that is the charging clip reminds me of Apple when they changed charging cables and people to had to purchase a new dongle in order to do things they could have otherwise done on older models. I'll be moving to a different workout headphone manufacturer next time I'm in the market. ... show more

    • Excellent fit, sound, and connectivity
Exceptional headphones. Right out of the box, the product looks and feels to be quite high quality. The cable is quite a thicker and less flexible than most headphones I’ve every used, which works great to prevent tangling. The fit on these headphones is fantastic, probably the best I’ve ever experienced with earbuds. They have a very in depth guide on how to correctly size put the earbuds in within the app, and in minutes I had found the right size fins and tips. I use the comply tips included, which feel very nice (no ear fatigue after over 3 hours of wear). These earbuds also stay in exceptional well. Shaking my head rather violently neither ear bud budged; both remained as snug as when I first put them on. Even lightly tugging on the cable, the ear buds stayed in place. The sound quality on these are incredibly customizable. The astounding amounts of presets made by Jaybird and the community (as well as the ability to crest your own profile) allows you to customize the sound quite extensively for any type of audio. I haven’t had the opportunity to experiment extensively with the connectivity, but my experience thus far has been excellent. I have had no stuttering or lapses in audio, even when leaving my phone on the counter and walking a good 15 feet behind a wall. These headphones are fantastic, and well wearth the price.     • Overall, very good wireless headphones
I use these wireless headphones for when I go running. Much less of a hassle than using wired headphones. Sound quality is very good, battery life is excellent (as long as you remember to turn them off after using them) - I usually run for about an hour each time, and I can get a good five hour runs out of one charge. Very durable. Only small complaint is that it's hard to find the perfect ear pieces (they have several to choose from, which is good). I think my ear canal may be a bit smaller, so I find that I have issues with the earbuds coming out while I run sometimes. Think I have to play around with the different ear bud sizes a bit. But definitely recommend this product. Good price for a quality item. ... show more
