  • Well made!
Very well made! It has many small pieces which can get lost easily but with a bit of care kids can create different scenes with it.

  • Cool, but has some flaws
Bought for our 2.5 yr old who hates the car. She seems to like it, but I'll have to update as to how much use it really gets later. I'm sure she'll enjoy it even more as she gets older if she doesn't destroy it first. She has already bent and torn a couple of the magnets. It's a nice set, but I gave four stars for a few reasons: 1. It's twice as big as I thought. Not really all that travel friendly. It would fill a child's backpack up without much room for much else. It's about the size of a sheet of paper, a few inches thick (I haven't actually measured or looked to see if measurements are in the description. 2. I suppose it's not really feasible to make it smaller because as it is, once you put the tree magnet on and a person or two there's not room for much else except all the little magnets that are about the size of peas. I'm sure most of these will get lost. 3. The magnets are puffy made with cardboard and just a thin magnet layer, so you can't put things on top of each other (a person can't stand in front of the tree if you're using one of the tree magnets, for example). It would have been nice to be able to layer. They would have been more durable if they were just a thick magnet sheet with the picture on it, but then the pea sized ones would really be impossible to use and keep track of. 4. The book doesn't magnet closed! If it's not laying flat it will open, so I have a rubber band around ours. I like the theme of this one, but the people are bit too comical for my liking. ... show more

  • Love the theme! But lots of pieces can be overwhelming.
We love Janod Magnetibooks. We bought one and my son got such a kick out of it, we bought several more. This is one of the new sets we just received. This theme is the most challenging so far. Mostly because several of the pieces are pea sized. Like tiny snowflakes or fall leaves. Because of this, I wouldn't really recommend this particular set for the car like some of the others. The tiniest pieces would easily get lost in the car if dropped. I always go through the pieces to make sure we have them all before I let him play. There were so many pieces (which is great!!), but it was overwhelming digging through 4 season's worth of pieces even for me. So what we decided to do was separate each season into a zip-lock bag. That way he is only sifting and sorting through one season's pieces which I feel is challenging enough for him to match up with the card at 3 years old. Doing it this way really worked better for us and he really enjoyed this magnet book. ... show more

  • Love the idea, needs better execution
I love Janod products since my daughter was born, and magnets... what three year old doesn’t live magnets?!? We had this for about half an hour and she’s happily building her scene and the ribbon flops out dropping her creation and tears commence. I told her no biggie, I’ll get a hot glue gun and make this work!! Well I’m picking up Christmas mess from a hurricane of happiness, and I check it out to glue it and see the entire box has come unglued from the cardboard that keeps everything together looking like a book. I’m hoping my hot glue gun with save the day, and I do plan on buying her another of these for her birthday this month however, -not everyone has a hot glue to remedy this issue. -the ribbons were never strong enough to hold the weight of all the magnets -there was almost no glue holding this together to begin with which is a disappointment because janod products have always been durable so maybe I’m holding them to too high of expectations now that they are becoming more popular. I will continue to hope I can make these work because -Cute! Perfect for toddlers with busy hands to keep occupied. - a good stationary task, I would not recommend this as a car activity though. Think more when moms trying to finally tackle cleaning the kitchen and laundry! Colorful, vibrant magnets can still be used on a magnetic dry erase board IF the box gets ruined! ... show more

  • Small pieces can be overwhelming
The illustrations are adorable but there are a lot of tiny pieces (i.e. snowflakes) for even a 3 year old. I bought it for my daughter who is almost 2.5 and she enjoys playing with it still. I separated the seasons for her into small ziplock bags and took out the really small pieces until she gets older. If I didn't separate it out, it would take forever to find the right pieces. I'm also confused about the plastic insert. It has a two separated areas in it, but why? The right/smaller, side is too small to lay the cards in. I'll probably just remove it altogether. I still like it and will likely buy some more from this series. ... show more

  • Tiny tiny pieces
Some of the magnets are downright Itty bitty. Like smaller than a pencil eraser. I would lose them, and I'm an adult. That aside, my son never plays with it. Its not very creative. Its more of a learning tool about seasons and dressing appropriately for them, but not something he has fun with on his own. The tree takes up much of the picture, so there isn't much room to make it your own. ... show more

  • Good for Alzheimer’s Patients
Bought this for my 92 year old Mother with Alzheimer’s. Love it but the play area is small. Going to get a larger magnetic board for her to use.

  • Wanted to love it, disappointed
I got this book to prep for a long drive, knowing my kid would love creating/recreating all kinds of different scenes. It is so cute out of the box, exactly like the picture and bigger than I expected. I briefly thought I might have just discovered the magic road trip toy. However, when I opened it to sort through the pieces (planning to take some out for the drive), I found that one piece was missing and the lid does not magnet closed, so it will be easy for the pieces to fall out if the book/box is tipped over. Moreover, after about 10 minutes of sorting, the ribbons slipped out from where they were glued on the lid of the box so they no longer held it upright (pictured). The glue quality is clearly very poor. And if that happened while I was just sorting through the magnets, it wouldn’t have held up more than 2 minutes while being actively played with by my curious (but not overly rough) child. We’ll still probably bring it, but I’m definitely disappointed and would not purchase again. ... show more
