  • 4 Cuts......
My first cut was on some light angled aluminum. Did pretty well. To be expected, considering the same can be done with a regular wood blade. The next piece to be cut was the actual work I purchased this for; 3" X 2" angle mild steel. This blade lasted all of 3 cuts before it was done. About midway through the cut, it only heated up the part. After stopping it, it was very dull to the touch. Ended up having to by a Japanese Evolution blade. Now that's a blade. Still cutting without any issues. More than what can be said for the Irwin crap. ... show more

  • Think twice!
Bought blade awhile back and just used 1st time yesterday. First cut on 3x3” 11 ga sq. Steel. Cut like butter. 2nd cut it was so dull I could not finish the last 3 pieces I had.! So $80+ buck per cut I guess. Totally useless blade or frisbee too.

Cuts 4" x 1/2" 6061 aluminum plate like butter. I've only used it a dozen or so times, but so far it's fantastic.

  • So far so good
Bought as a replacement blade for my Makita LC1230.I got the saw used, so I don't have experience with a new Makita blade to compare to. The old Makita blade still cut ok, but it has "grabbed" a few pieces on me so I wanted to see if a new blade would help with that. I do a lot of woodworking and Irwin has always been a good performer, not super high quality but above average in my experience. That previous experience with Irwin and the price point of this blade factored greatly in to this purchase. I haven't cut gobs of metal yet, but my initial cuts in some 1/4" and 1/8" angle iron were fantastic. Chatter-free, controled cuts, with a darn-near mirror finish. Like the title said, so far so good. If my opinion changes with continued use, I will update this review. ... show more

  • Doesn't compromise performance happy camper.
Works great for half the cost. Replace worn out carbide wheel on Makita carbide chop saw.

  • Works
Before purchasing this blade I had never used a circular type blade to cut metal (besides cutoff wheels). It almost lasted until the end of my project. I was mostly cutting [A-500 Structural Steel Handrail Pipe 1-1/2" SCH 10 (1.90 OD X .109 wall)] and some smaller tube/pipe. Made about 35-45 cuts before it died. I switched to a 12inch cutoff wheel (much cheaper $10 or so) but I was still glad i started with the reviewed product. This blade made much more precise cuts (speedier too), and left the metal much cooler. This was nice because I was using a miter saw to make the cuts which was made for wood. The hot sparks from the cutoff wheel caused some damage to the plastic parts on the saw, this blade caused little to none from heat. Make sure you wear long sleeves/gloves ect. I started out with short sleeves and safety glasses (duh), and soon found the experience painful. Even goggles aren't a bad idea. The pieces aren't hot but they are decent size chunks and can get stuck in you're skin. Got one in the cheek :(. If you're going to use a miter saw for cutting with blades other than advertised for miter saws make sure you check the RPM rating. This blade was rated for 1800 RPM. Miter saw spun at 4000. Used a router speed control to turn it down. Worked fine, just some metal pieces stuck in the small spaces. Blow gun got most out. ... show more

  • Mikita replacement blades are twice the cost and don’t hold up any better than the Irwin
A bargain at this price. Mikita replacement blades are twice the cost and don’t hold up any better than the Irwin.

  • For what I'm doing this blade isn't a good option.
I work with gutter materials. I used this blade to cut paint grip steel 26 Guage gutters. I normally use the Diablo blades, but wanted to try this one out. This blade is extremly loud when cutting, and is slow to cut. For what I'm doing this blade isn't a good option.
